Decided to try out PokerStars, after building up my bankroll on Full Tilt.

I have not deposited any real money yet, I'm still trying to get used to the new interface. I've played some play money games in order to try it out. I'm finding it cumbersome and annoying compared to Full Tilt. I know a lot of people prefer the PokerStars interface, so I'm hoping it's just a matter of getting used to it. Any suggestions for settings on PS?

I've already tweaked the options to display bet sizes, show 4 color cards, change my seat position to the bottom (just got used to it that way from FT.), etc. I'm still not feeling it, though, and I know I can't play any real money until I'm fully comfortable with it.

My list of annoyances:

1. The "simple" table theme is the one I like best, but I do not like the card styles. I use the 4-color decks on full tilt and the solid color background on PS is too different. Does it take much time to get used to it?

2. I do not like that I cannot color-code players when I take notes on them. I use the color codes on FT and know at a glance who is a fish and who is a nit. Any way to duplicate that on PS?

3. On FullTilt, each player's name, stack size, color code, and notes are all stacked vertically in the same fashion, no matter what his table position. On PS, each position at the table is justified differently, so name tags can be to the left or right of each player. I don't know why this is annoying to me. It just feels less intuitive to quickly see stack sizes, previous action, etc.

4. Player notes do not show up as mouseovers, you have to click, which changes the stats/info window. Yuck. I don't take that many notes, but I like to record player's pre-flop tendencies and mouseovers are a great way to quickly see that without removing the information window.

5. I don't know exactly how to describe it, but the action just feels different. The way I see bets, raises, folds, mucks, seems very robotic and cluttered compared to FT. I don't know how to put my finger on it exactly, but I'm just not getting a feel for the action, bet sizes, players, etc. I guess I just need to play some more play money 'til I get my poker mojo? Has anyone else had this problem when starting out on a new site?

Things I like:

6. I frequently view the last hand to see what cards were mucked at showdown. PS has a one-click way to do this, and it can be visual or textual. Better than FT.

7. Blinds structure on tourneys is different. Not sure how I feel about this yet, but it seems better to have longer levels even if the jumps are a bit bigger.

Appreciate any feedback on PS settings. I play mostly SNGs, so I don't have much use for heads up displays, etc. I'd really like to hear from people who prefer PS over FT -- maybe I just need to be enlightened?

Dude, you're not going to get any site to look and feel exactly like another site.'

That reads like a really petty list of issues. Try moving to a site where the auto-fold option box gets replaced by the call button if you're not quick enough, or where the time warning is the same color as the normal scheme. Where tables cant be resized at all.
Just playing to improve.

If every poker site were the same that would be very boring. FTP has a lot of upsides, Pstars does as well. I'm not that particular about sites graphics etc...I'm playing poker, Not a video game. To me one of the most important things you left out. Trusting a poker site is the #1 thing i look for in a site, the support team. Keep exploring you will learn your way around.

unfortunately, once you get accustomed to FTP, all other sites will feel cumbersome and annoying. too bad FTP can't attract the fish.
