Apparently FTP now has "double stack" STG games (marked "DS") where you start with 3000 chips instead of 1500. I'm starting one now and I'm curious how people will adapt - not that many people at my level (5.50) seem to watch M...

Edit: hmm, feels like the blinds are at turbo speed.

deep stack + turbo = people going crazy when they need not be doing so. sounds like a win to me.

So a brief summation of my experience in one 5.50 90-man SNG: People continued with the usual pattern of seeing the flop for the price of the BB for quite a while, so I tried speculating with a much wider set of open hands looking to get that destacking shot - but got nothing going. It was really odd feeling to be one of the shorter stacks at the table with an M of 20.

Once I hit M20 I started tightening back up as the table population started making more normal 3+ BB starting bets. I then was dealt two hands in a row that killed me - a QQ that lost a coinflip to AKo and a AKo that lost a coinflip to 66 and I was gone.

I think if a thinking player has the time to play this a good bit before people adjust to it it could be quite good. However, there is also the fact that the tourneys are running longer (from reading threads on FTP's forum) which is turning people off. Since I have limited playing time + shorter time periods, and I'm doing well on the 1-table to 5-table normal SNGs, I'll probably stick to those.

The DS sng's are much easier to cash in also as they pay out 3x as many spots as the 45-man ones.
