Until recently, I have done all of my online play at Stars. I mostly play mid-limit LHE (3/6, 5/10, 10/20) along with MTT NLHE tournies. The main reason I haven't tested other sites is that I have wanted to keep my bankroll in one place. Besides, the action is pretty good at Stars.
A few weeks ago, I had a nice pop on Stars, and decided to check out FTP for the first time. Here are a few of my observations.
1) The 100% deposit bonus up to $600 is nice. It won't take me forever to get that released.
2) The LHE cash tables are much softer than on Stars.
3) I prefer the blind structure on FTP tournies... More frequent increases, but a slower climb, without the big jumps you sometimes get on Stars.
4) This is probably a function of the fact that I do most of my playing on a 5yo laptop with only 500Mb of RAM, but the FTP client is a memory hog, and sometimes my machine will freeze long enough for me to miss a blind, even when I have "Auto-Post" selected. Granted, I run with PT and PA-HUD up and running, but it pisses me off when I miss my small blind, loose my button in the process, and have to post a dead small from the cutoff.
Other that my gripes with the client, the poker on FTP is certainly better than on Stars.
My $0.02...
- Vince

Thanks for the mini-review. I used to play a bunch of sites before they all banned US players but have only played Stars for awhile.
If you're in the US, what funding option did you use?

I haven't had to fund since before UIGEA, but I used epassporte to move the $$$ from Stars to FTP.

I heard they have some problem with connection now on FullTilt. Is that true? I am thinking to do the same thing as you did, VinceSincere, because it kind of sucks that they don't have a rakeback at Stars and I think I am giving too much money away.

My main complaint with FT is with the connection. This complaint covers both major disconnects (effectively akin to a server crash) and minor ones (sporadic disconnects, generally not affecting gameplay).
Example of major disconnect: Right before the FTOPS began, there were two incidents on two separate nights where a large group of players lost connection. The major one was on July 27th, IIRC, when I was in three tournaments including two FTOPS satellites and FT just lost connection for more than 3 hours. They wound up having to cancel all the tournaments that were going on that night.
To add insult to injury, it took them nearly one month to credit all my tournament entry fees from that crash. If they had not given me additional compensation, I doubt I'd still be at FT right now. I think that all users should be aware of the possibility of disconnects (to some, this might be wholly unacceptable on its own) and also, the potential customer service issues that accompany it (definitely unacceptable to anyone, I'd think).
Minor issues: Periodic disconnects. This may be the "memory hog" lag that OP mentions. Sometimes, I'll freeze up and in status bar it'll show that I disconnected, then reconnected. It's not a problem on my end because I see it happening to others as well, and all my other internet connections are not interrupted. This is not a big issue, but certainly annoying.
Other than the connections, I'm happy with the client. FT play has also been significantly looser ever since the ban. I think a lot of US players who used to be in PP and other sites moved to FT.

Ty for warning, gengar. I appreciate it. It seems quite unacceptable to me. Let's say I have a set over set and there is a big pot developing, I lose money that way. Or do you reconnect fast enough? Is there at least an all in protection? I also wanted to buy another internet connection some day when I play higher stakes just so that I overcome that issue of disconnecting. It happens sometimes and is fault of my internet client and is quite annoying.I heard there is a lot of problems with that on FullTilt.

I had more disconnection problems on Party than I've ever had on FullTilt. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Rakeback makes up for it.

But the problem is on their part, right? Nothing anyone could do. Am I right?

Ya, I believe so. I don't think they were ready for the influx of US players moving from Party, et al. They've since upgraded and I don't often have problems with them, but that's not to say they're perfect.

I think that part of the problem is how resource hoggish the client has become since they included the resizable tables. Before that the client never had problems with lag and the like, now even my Core 2 Duo sometimes sits for a second and I have 2GB of RAM. Having said that they won't give me RB and I'm not in the USA so I moved on to where I could get it so they may have improved since then.

With minor disconnects I always reconnect fast enough. I've never disconnected for a long enough time that I actually get folded out of a hand. I'm sure that it is possible and that it may have happened to others, I've just never experienced it. The minor dc's are an annoyance at this point, nothing more.
