Duplicatepoker.com
They are advertising it as "taking the luck out of the game". Has anyone ever played this? I tried searching here but didnt find a thread on it. Apparently it is legal in the US due to it being completely a "skill game"

I have to say, that is a very interesting concept.
I would be very tempted to deposit a small amount there as "play money" just to see what it's like

For those too lazy to look:
How it works
Duplicate Poker involves play of Pot Limit and No Limit Texas Hold'em under the general rules governing that game with four exceptions.
* First, there are always two or more tables of players, with the same number of players seated at each table.
* Second, an identically shuffled deck of cards is used at each table for each hand played so that players in the same seat position at each table receive the same hole cards and the common cards are the same at each table.
* Third, every player begins each hand with the same number of playing chips, regardless of how he/she may have done in any previous hand.
* Fourth, the winner of each hand is determined based on the number of chips he or she has at the end of the game as compared with those held by all players in the same seat at the other tables.
Determining winners by comparing the results achieved by the players playing identical hands eliminates the luck of the draw element normally associated with poker so that skill is what determines who wins, not whether you got good cards or bad cards. Every hand can win if it is well played.

'Taking the luck out of the game' only because there will be 6 guys in each game desperately trying to cheat. lol
I would play for fun for a bit probably.

My guess is that you either cannot have observers at the tables or cards are not shown until showdown has been reached at each of the identical tables.

I used to play a ton of duplicate bridge, which is the best card game ever invented. Applying the idea to poker sounds cool, but saying it takes the luck out of the game is ludicrous. Who's sitting at your table and who's sitting in your seat at other tables will play a huge role in how well you do.
Plus there are a ton of details that I have a hard time imagining... like the scoring system (how much $ do you win if you steal the blinds with 72o and no one else in your seat does? are they really going to take money from all those other players b/c they "lost" the hand to you?)... and what will they do if a player stands up from a table? wait for the seat to fill before the next hand starts? it isn't really fair to compare a 5-handed game to a 6-handed game... and obviously collusion would be really easy online and it's hard to imagine how to get around that.
If anyone tries it out I'm REALLY curious to read trip reports.
