Has anyone else noticed the following phenomenon? It's happened twice to me in the last week.

I'll be leaning on someone, and he'll deliberately disconnect, rather than call or fold. This puts him all in, so that he doesn't have to call or fold. So, both times, I was on a semi-bluff that would have caused him to fold. Instead I lost all my chips up to that point.

This seems to me to be cheating, and I just left the room after that. Is there any way to work around this?

Email support and report it. If the player has a history of abusing the "disconnect protect" then they will take action.

There are posts about this as its been discussed before, do a search. Depending on the sites you are playing on, some offer tables with no disconnection protection. It stops the abuse of it but then you won't have it if you really need it.

Yes, Party Poker has tables with no protection.
Listen, here's the thing. If you can't spot the sucker in your first half hour at the table, then you ARE the sucker.

if it's there, use it to full advantage. Disconnect when you have trips on a flush board.

If you're "above that", then play a room with no DPs. There's simply no reason to give any advantage away.

This is simply cheating.

I'm in agreement with George and Sinky...

But want to jump in to say we don't want to start a FLAME festival.

Salsa, you should consider (reconsider) your opinion on this and decide if you really think DP should be an "advantage" play.

I experienced this once on party - I emailed support about it and gave them the HH, and they took action against the player when they investigated the player and found out he was abusing DP regulary.

And no dont abuse DP yourself. Its cheating, and if you are very unlucky you can end up having your account locked up

Play on poker stars on the cash games the say (no all-in)
If someone disconnects they lose the money in the pot and you would just take it down right there.

I needed the DP a couple times during that week when all the Party skins were being retarded;but otherwise I have seen it abused(mainly by fish).I actually lost a big pot where I was ahead and someone who disconnected himself preflop with 33 caught his set on the river and won a share of the pot.I was kinda apesh** but oh well.Good for him.

I'm not gonna cry about it. It happens to me a couple times a month -- some ass disconnects on a big hand because I put pressure on him. Of course he doesn't have that problem when it is a little hand.

It's just a SIZE issue. Little time, he sticks around. Big time, he can't Hang.
I'm a know-it-all.

No, really.
