I am a really big fan of playing poker online, but I don't know if I like it as much as playing the real thing. There is a lot more room for bluffing and reading what people have when your sitting at the same table as them. You can read what type of player is by their betting patterns at an online table. Another thing about online poker is people seem to play by the percentages more online, maybe it's because they don't have their opponent looking at them. What do you guys think?

reading ur opponent should really only affect ur percentages.
if I can read u for one specific hand, it just makes my percentages more precise

also, there are no computers in live games.
there is more information in live games. you cant look to your left online and realize that you should muck your AJo because seat five is aching to raise.
you cant see the guys eyes or hands or pulse when hes just come over the top of you.
and you cant shoot him in the face when he makes two pr on the river with a busted flush.

I prefer playing online poker a lot more, but with rakeback, bonuses, and multi-tabling, online poker is way more profitible. plus, you can always find a good game. you try finding a 3/6 game in Athens, GA (or any LHE for that matter)

I enjoy playing live a little more, but it is a lot more convenient playing online. For me, it is ~25 minute drive each way to the local casino, and if I go on the weekend I can expect to wait 1+ hours to get on a 3/6 game. The money I save in gas and rake makes online a more profitable experience for me.

You can have some handy information online by using tools such as pokertracker or pokeroffice. Knowing exactly how often someone does each action can be handy. Of course that info can backfire, but so can reads in live games.

Everything you gave as a negative example are the exact reasons I prefer live play. More information available, easier to bluff/know when to call a bluff when you have had that personal contact, and the ability to still play percentages when others have no clue and are playing off testosterone.

Poker is a game of information. How you compute, process, and eventually impliment that info is one of the things that distinguishes a good player from a great player. Why anyone would prefer less information about their opponenets be available to them is something I do not understand.
