This sounds like a nice promotion on Pacific, but I'm fuzzy on the details.
Here's the email:

Saturday, March 19th, will be Pacific Poker’s 888 Day!
Here’s how it works: The first 100 players who win a hand that includes three 8s (Three of a kind or a full house) will get an $88 bonus!
And that’s not all! The first 4 players who win a hand with four 8s will get an $888 bonus!
As with all our promotions, the money will be paid into your bankroll within 24 hours. To take part all you have to do is deposit $50 or more between 12:00pm & 23:59 Pacific Poker Time.

EDIT -- found the phone # and got the answers -- I posted answers at bottom of this message.
Do you think that deposit is 12-noon-to-Midnight today (Fri), or tomorrow!?!
EDIT -- what they meant was Midnight to Midnight the 19th.
Do you think Omaha counts?
EDIT -- what they could have said was "any ring game, but not tournaments"
EDIT -- read on to see how I did w/ the promotion!

I'm glad you got the support number. I've called the 800 number there late at night. They seem to pick up the phone quickly.

Well, I got on between 3:30 and 6:30, PacificPokerTime, and won two hands (one split, one scoop in .05/.10Limit Omaha8) with trip 8's. They have no confirmation or winners list, so I don't know yet if I was in the top 100, or if I'm allowed to win twice. An extra $176 beats a stick in the eye. I just called down eveytime I got an 8 in my hand. I still won about $7 bucks because of the other hands, but the bonus is the important part for the evening.

UPDATE 3/21 -- Pacific is not awarding me a prize because of an unstated rule --
"Play is considered on tables 50¢/$1 stakes or higher..."
We'll see about that. I'm doing email battle with them.
You can see in the email above (and anywhere else you care to look) that this rule is unstated in connection with 888Day promotion.
If they pay me, I'll come back, edit this post, and say something nice about them.
Otherwise, I'll GAMBLE the rest of their bonus $, rather than earn them fat rake with my steady play , and I will leave Pacific.

I got a reply from Pacific. I'm leaving. I think my br is big enough to start Party anyway.

Dear E-,

I checked the link. It's the same one I looked at over and over and over, but this one was modified TODAY, four days after the event. Now it has reference to the 888Day, when there was none before.
It does not reflect well on Pacific Poker that :- 1) My phone call to Pacific Poker the day of the promotion ended with two incorrect answers to my questions
2) Internet Explorer tells me the referenced Player's Club page was modified on 3/23/05, today
3) That I searched ~every~ page of the News button/Player's Club several times looking for 888Day information, both prior to my event day phone call and after, while preparing to do battle. That information was not there at the time! (Because I read the event page I did become familiar with with Showdown Survivor rules, which was the only event described on the page.) I did not see 888Day on the event table then, but I see it now. I looked at it over and over that day, prior to requesting help from FTR folks, then making a desperate clarification phone call to Pacific.
Usually, I look for a reason to admit I am wrong and that the fault was mine. This time, I still believe I was right. This looks like someone at Pacific did a sloppy job and is trying to cover it up after the fact. I have withdrawn all my money from Pacific. I don't belive I "cleared" the bonuses , but I have eight! withdrawls totalling over $300 qued up in their hideously slow cashout process. It looks like the withdrawl is working. We'll see.

Here's the follow-up email from Pacific, accepting some responsibility and giving me some more money to play with:
Quote:
Dear E-,
Thank you for your reply.
E- I apologise for the response to your queries regarding the 888
event.
This was a new event and I admit that some of our customer services
representatives were not prepared to answer correctly.
Kindly note that we usually modify our websites on a daily basis -
albeit the reasons are several, i.e. training, technical maintenance
etc.
Inadvertently we did post the table limits on the website while failing
to acknowledge this on the emails that we sent, a mistake for which we
duly apologise.
I also see that you were misinformed regarding the event hours, please
find that as a gesture of goodwill for the poor way we handled your
requests for information I have refunded your $50 deposit.
Once again I am sorry for the answers you received.
On a final note I want to thank you for your patience, understanding,
and this opportunity to explain. E-, you are more than welcome to
write back regarding this issue or any further concerns you may have.
You may if you wish address your concerns to myself, I'll be more than
happy to oblige.
Sincerely,
XXXXXX

While I was initially expecting a $176 game prize, a $50 bribe beats prickly heat, and I will not leave the free money fallow (I know, I'm cheap, easy, and a little bit tawdry.)

I'm a know-it-all.
No, really.
