I just deposited and am trying to figure out the best way to clear the bonus at stars. Here are some preliminary thoughts:

1. 5+.50 SNGs earn you 3 points because they round up the (5 X .5). Three of these gets you the same points as doing a 30+3

2. When one side of the equation doubles, but not the other side, there's a good deal lurking. at 0.5/1 the rake must reach 50 cents but at 1/2 it has to reach 0.75 -- not the $1 you'd expect. Play 1/2 if you can.

3. NL ring games have to be 2/4 or higher to earn points. If you've got the BR that's obviously the quickest way. But the absolute BR minimum for that game is 10 X buyin (400) = $4k and if you have 4K there's no reason for you to be llistening to me.

I'll do some of #1 and #2 today and post the points-per-hour one can expect.

Looking forward about your thought abouts 1/2 thougt it was very tight compared to some other sites. Not least if you were going to the bonus and wanted big pots

I've done quite a bit of 1/2 now, and it's often difficult to find a table with avg pot >11 -- which is what you'd need to get a healthy # of points in a session. Of course, when you do find such a table it's nice.

I'm going down in limits just 'cause i haven't adapted to the 1/2 style yet. For SNGs I'm going into the 10+1

In short, the little extra "edges" you get in terms of points are not worth playing a stake or game you're uncomfortable with.

I just joined Poker Stars and have been playing the $20 SnG's. You get 10 points per $20 SnG, so the bonus isn't clearing quick, but it is clearing.

Also the $20 SnG's seem to have a good mix of fish and good players at Poker Stars. Typically there seems to be 4-5 fish and 4-5 good players per table.
Thanks,
