While playing a poker game the other night a friend made an interesting comment.
He said he never wins at Party Poker becuase of all the teams playing the tables.
It would be very easy for these guys to have a yahoo chat or other open and give each their cards.
They could raise the pot accordingly and fold out once they think that they having a winning hand among the group.
This is cheating but is there anything an online card room can do?

They can pay attention to every collusion complaint they get. Investigate the issue and ban anyone they find is playing the game unfairly.
And that's what they do.

I don't know what they have to say
It makes no difference anyway.
Whatever it is...
I'm against it.

I believe these sites also do track for patterns of players repeatedly playing at the same table and investigate accordingly.

True. But how fast will they act? Alot of money could have been taken by then. And it is very hard to Ban someone for good. I think it would be hard to prove collusion if a team played it smart..with multiple accounts and usernames.

Just suspicious of Party Poker. I dont play it much because I dont like the outdated interface. But I know this is possible at any card room.
I have heard some bad stories about Party Poker. Rigged games for action..etc.

How fast do they get the complaint?

Yea, and some baseball players take steroids, but I still play it. Some people rob banks, but I still have a bank account.
Cheating happens. People try to stop it and others try to get around the rules. That's part of life.

Im sure people do it -- but the precise kind of angle-shooters who would collude with each other are the people who lack the discipline/intellect to win the game fair and square.
Problem is, it takes almost as much sound insight, strategy and discipline to get an effective edge with collusion. Knowing your co-conspirators cards doesnt give you that much of an edge. Being able to use position to grow huge pots when you have a great hand is more of an edge, but your typical angle shooter doesnt have the patience to wait for it. People like that are just as apt to lose their money playing in teams as they are playing individually.
