I have a PC and a laptop and accounts at both Party and Empire. So I have 4 notes.txt files. I guess I could cut and paste from one to another and then manually remove any duplication, but has anyone got a utiltity that will do this automatically ?

Well that doesn't really help him.

Go to your Dir.

Find the notes file. Save as one big file copying and pasting into the one file making one big notes list.

Then save as the note.txt file. Then copy and paste it and overwrite your exsisting file now all party/empire notes will be the same.

Dear oh Dear.

Let me put this another way. If I simply append one notes.txt file to another, will duplicate entries and the un-sorted nature of the file cause a problem to the Party and Empire applications.
