I have been looking for a poker site that offers free, private tournament hosting so my friends and I can play each other on line as its hard for all of us to meet up in one spot. I haven't had any luck so far though. Does anyone know of some poker sites that offer free private tournaments? Thanks in advance.

We've tried that on several sites and its okay for when we are just screwing around but those tournaments seat too many people and we get random people playing with us. I guess I should have been more specific. We only want to play with each other so we can keep track of who wins without random people playing.
What I have in mind is a site where I can make my own table with as many open seats (we'll probably play 5-6) as I want with a password so only my friends and I can sit there.

What would be in it for the site to allow this? If they did, you could bet it would cost money to buy the seats. They aren't into giving shit away.

PartyPoker has private tables, login to your account (or create one, I guess) and on the lobby below the 'Add to favorites' and 'Open table' buttons you'll find 'Private Tables'.
The only caveat (I think) is that no partypoints are awarded.

Not much, I figured that's why I was having trouble finding a site that did this but figured someone might know a site that does, maybe as appreciation for its members.

Thanks. I'll check that out and see if it will work.

Email Pokerstars Support letting them know of your wishes to hold private tournaments. If you are a reputable player (and maybe if not), they will "upgrade" your account so you can create private tournaments, in which you can then set the buyin, time, date, and even set a password. Then you and your friends can enter that, and play with only the people that know the password.

Ah right, didn't notice that. Also I should have probably written above that no partypoints are awarded for the rake that is taken.
