I was going to join Poker Stars but they are not offering any sign up bonuses. Which poker room would be best? It's my first time and I woudl like a good user intereface and a nice bonus. A friend referred me to empire poker. Any thoughts?

It depends on how much money you have and how expensive of SNG's you are looking to play. Empire/party etc. start at 5+1. There are site that offer one dollar SNG's if you don't have a lot to get started with.

Actually I dove into Empire, used the bonus code FLOP35 and received a $35 bonus once I've played 175 raked hands. I've played two $5&1 sitngos and won both of them. Next I started going after my bonus. I'm playing .5 & $1 it's not pot limit but limited to raises. And I'm out $26 after 160 hands. I think I'll play the 15 more required hands get the $35 bonus and go back to sitngos.

Any advice?
PS thanks to everyone who contributes to this site, I've bought a couple books but this site is excellent. Of the two books I've read Harrington's is the best.

Bodog has a 20% bonus on EVERY deposit you make. They release the bonus into ur account for immediate use.

Dont pay the dollar rake for the 5s at PP and skins. Stars has 5.5, bodog has 5.5, and some other palces have 5.5.

Harrington on HOldem is the crazy awesome shit =).

for sure. If you are going to play at party or any of the skins, get a roll big enough to play 10 dollar SNG. You get raped playing the 5's. Fifty cents extra adds up quick. If you have not the BR to play 10+1, play 5+1 SNG's elsewhere.
Party is soft, but between the limited starting chips and extra money you have to pay for entry into it, there are clearly more beneficial places to play.

I'd sit at a table (sit, not necessarily play) and get the thrity bucks if you only have a few hands to go. Take that bonus, cash it out, and put it on a sight that offers 5+.5 if that's the level you want to start playing at. I'd even advise playing some 1 dollar SNG's if they offer it until you get a feel for their software.
