Many people say you need this much in order to play this and this much to play that.
Well does anyone have any good input or charts on bankroll of what to be playing.
Such as say $50 in an account what is the correct way of playing. ie: $5 + .50 sng's and what ring game limits. I am a nl player.
Thank you for any help

if you specialize in one type of game, the following are good guidelines
200-300BB for limit
20-30x the buyin for NL ring
20-30x the buyin for SnGs
100-200x the buyin for MTTs

Unfortunetly just starting, someones BR is very likely underfunded for playing anything besides micro limits, if you want to play safe. This is why in the beginning we tend to bust a lot (combines with lack of knowledge as well).
Hyper's breakdown is pretty good, I think you can flex that a bit if you need to, and are a good player. Generally for myself I would play in a SNG unless I have 20 buyins.
MTT's its "safe" to have atleast 100x the buyin, however this often isn't the case (unless you score a win), Unfortunetly starting your BR playing MTT's is quite hard and not advisable. you are talking hundreds of dollars in swings playing just 10 and 20 dollar tournies at times.
If you were sticking in 50$ I would be on the microlimit PL Omaha of NL tables. Or if you can find them 2$ SNG's.

Ok I am going to try to understand this.
Lets say I am going to stick w/ $50 in my account at poker stars. This means no SnGs until? $5 + .50 one that is...
Micro limit ring games such as what mark? Btw the omaha thing I got in by mistake. gosh darnit
Hyper: what that in English terms for us Poker nubs say that means 20-30x the buyin of 25 is at least $500?
and 1 SnG is 20x $5+.50 so $110. Am i doing this correctly?
holy moly. Looks like microlimit ring games for now I guess.

this is for newbies so they don't go bust while learning the game. while unlikely, even the best players can go on 10 sessions without seeing any money.
if you are really good (without overestimating your ability like a lot of poker players do) you can probably get away with 10x the buyin, 100BB limit, 50x MTT. but that's just asking for a streak of cold cards and bust you.
the main reason to have so much bank is psychological as much as it is mathematical. given you are a break even player, it's very unlikely you to lose even 5 times in a row. as this would be (1/2)^5 = 3%. but that doesn't mean you won't win one session, lose 2, win 1, lose 2, win 1, lose 2...
that's the mathematical side, and psychological is so you don't play shitless. if you had 100, and you sit in a 25 NL table. you have 4x the buyin. if you're unlucky and you bust, that's 25% of your bankroll gone in 1 hour. now, if you have a set, and you went all in, and someone with top pair with gut shot calls, and hits the gutshot. not only have you lost 25% of your roll, you're on tilt. you'll reload, and probably proceed to lose another 25 bucks because you're not playing normally. this second loss is now 33% of your roll.
continued losses like this will completely break your spirit. so it's necessary to have a lot of bank.
