So I have played several iPoker sites in the last 6-12 months. NoIQ was my home for 6 months, then Titan, Betfreinds, PokerPlex, Mansion and for now I have my meager roll on William hill becasue they advertised a pretty good deal through my RB provider.
I typically have deposited through Moneybookers and withdraw back there as well. Both PokerPlex and NoIQ allowed me to withdraw by Check as well. No site had ever asked for ID since I was using Moneybookers and am verified through them as to having a CC and bank account. For the first time I am having to jump through hoops to withdraw, and William Hill is asking for ID copies. Personally, I don't care for this activity. i don't think these sites have a very high moral ground in the first place and to start thinking that as a minor I wouldn't have a plan inplace for this is rediculous. Why would they they think an email of my drivers licence protects them in anyway?
Morons. Just use any other iPoker site, and avoid the hassle. That's all it is, a hassle. They just hope that because it's harder to get your money you will spend it instead on the casino or sportsbook. Poker players aren't like that.

Because they are a UK based bookmakers I'm wondering if this is a result of uk money laundering legislation and so could also apply to a lot of the other ipoker sites which are similarly UK bookies, paddypower, VC poker, bet365 etc and possibly non ipoker sites such as ladbrookes and coral BETFRED and a host of others. Although quite a ew seem to be operated from gibraltar.

I think Keith_MM is probably right. Providing copies to prove your identity does sound very much like UK money laundering legislation.

i have decent digital images of my passport, address details, etc stored on my computer. So it is as simple as sending them the standard folder when i'm asked for it. Examples are party and FT, they both asked for extra identity verification info once my site withdrawals exceeded their magic numbers. It's not that much hassle.

PokerStars also is under this law.
Party Poker, back in the day, also made me send in all kinds of docs and shit.

May be its good to demand for ids..
They are giving more emphasis to our money.
Its OK if they demand.

You will also run into this on Betfair (which is down AGAIN tonight which is why I ran into this). Except there they are happy to take your money off you before freezing your account after 3 days until they get a scan of your ID.
Sounds like it may be a UK thing...

Yea I am discovering now that all of them seem to be doing this. Some are worse than others. One took my old scan of my license that had an old address on it and was expired, but Mansion is making me jump through hoops trying to get one that is to their satisfaction. With all the holograms and fine type it is hard to get something clear without pixelating or reflections.

I had a similar experience with Sports Book Poker after a big NFL playoffs run.I deposited $100 before the wild card week one of this past playoffs.I have played poker there off and on for 3 years and I also use the sports book, both are the same acct.I had withdrew several times over the 3 years I was there. They only pay with paper check taking on avg. 21 days, but with no cash out fees and good planning I always made this work for me as I use several sports books and plan cashouts far in advance as I am 1st and foremost a Sports Handicapper.Well after I ran the $100 up to $5K and tried to cash $1k of it they sent me an e-mail stating that they had changed the company that handled their security and cashouts and I had to verify my acct all over with this new company. What a hassle, everything I scanned and emailed in they claimed was illegible, even though I could view the sent documents in my google email acct and see they were fine.It took almost a month of jumping through hoops to get them to honor my cashout request.I did some searching on the net and found out that they had been bouncing checks left and right.I was afraid to cash the damn thing after I got it.Now all seems back to normal there.like the 1st several years I used them but I'll never forget the hassle and I won't ever trust em with more than a $100 deposit.

i had to send through the standard stuff. Best bet is to sort out all the account verification well in advance. I suggest trying to pull it all to neteller one day, and back straight away, just to make sure it is all sorted before you NEED the money outa there

I withdrew this week from both bwin and Betfair and both asked for ID even though I use Moneybookers. As some have said, in both cases this is due to UK money laundering legislation.
I don't have a scanner so for $5 at Staples (ie. Office Supply store), they scanned my Driver's License to a CD. I uploaded the file to both sites; Betfair processed my withdrawl in about 12 hours, bwin in 36. I now have a soft copy in hand should any other rooms ask for ID. Personally, I think it's a small hassle for the luxury of taking advantage of soft fields (I'm not an NL player but ran 361bb/100 in a couple of sessions of NL20 at Betfair...sustainable?) and nice bonuses.

Yes it's fine. When they asked me that was the first one to do so for me and I have played at about 20 sites. It seems now that they are all doing it, even to us Canadians using legitimate deposit methods. Since it seems to be common place I guess I could withdraw my request to avoid Will hill for these reasons. I still think there are others.

I never had a problem withdrawing from Will Hill when they were on the crypto network, I did have a problem when they moved to ipoker, they asked for ID but I told them i've withdrawn before and i'm using neteller it got sorted quick but to be honest crypto was much better than ipoker so I dont play Will Hill anymore.
After using Pokerstars for over 2 years I suddenly got a pop-up asking for age verification the other day, i just popped in my driving license number and that was that.
I find it sort of reassuring that the sites are doing these checks it just seems they are very random when they do, it should be prove your age before they allow you to deposit the first time and then its out of the way.
