Hey, I am new to FTR but not to poker, I have a decent set of clay-composite poker chips, and an alright table I won in a tourny, but I am looking to upgrade my gear. I would like to find some nice plastic cards (played with them in tournys and fell in love) and I would like to get my hands on some clay poker chips. Now I have spent the past few days scouring my town looking for poker supplys, but it seems all anybody has are crappy $40 plastic chips in nice cases.
So here is my question, do you guys know of any place to buy some Kem's besides eBay? The only place I could find was a Luggage/Gift store in the mall that had a bunch of chess boards, and other random things. There was a small display rack near the front of the store with some pokerchips on and around it, and there was a 2-pack of Kems sitting next to the poker chips for $26.95. I grabbed it and RAN to the cashier, but as I looked a little closer, i noticed that it was a PENOCHLE deck. I went back to the poker stuff, and they had another brand of plastic cards but it was a penochle deck too, and then they had a bunch of Novelty Paper decks.
I mean, do you think Wal-Mart will carry some Kems or what?

Skip the Kems and get Copags, just as good, less money.
You can check out www.cardsbycopag.com for some good prices.
i think they have some Kems also.

Yeah stick to online sites. Check out www.homepokertourney.com. They have an extensive listing on where to buy chips, tables and cards. A very informative site indeed for running a home game.

I bought a deck of KEM's and a deck of Copags from cardsbycopag.com and I was very pleased. His business is actually located about 4 miles from my house so I just ran by and picked them up. He was a very good person to do business with.
BTW I liked the Copags a little better than the KEM's. The printing on the Copags was much better than the KEM's.
As for chips, they are not fancy but I got the free 500 chipset when I signed up for pacific poker. They are the kind with the metal insert but for me they work great, especially for the price I paid. I actually made a few $$ and then they sent me the chips. I cashed out of pacific soon after because I just didn't care for their software.
Also check with hobby stores in your local yellow pages and see if they sell any cards or chips.

I have a set of each as well, but I think I like the Kems slightly better. To me the printing on the Copags looks a little faded. You can't go wrong with either brand, though, in my opinion.
