What does the forum think. How much does luck play in live poker. Its so furtrating to watch an opponent get that miracle card in the river to beat out your TPTK. I cant remember all the times I have lost with trips to a flush that was made on the river and they were playing hands like J-7.

My second questions is how do you play against a MANIC. There are times I want to see a flop cheap but I usually run into a manic raising to 20-25 pre flop. Is this flawed thinking, should you never limp into a pot. There are times on the buttom I would like to play hands like K-9, Q-10 and AX os but not against a 15.00 + raise pre flop.

I have no interest in discussing strategy with a protege'. Your job is to remain quiet and listen. I have a very systematic approach that I will share with the right candidate and I promise that I will turn you into a force of nature and show you elements of the game of poker that you never knew existed.

poker is the game of short term luck and long term skill. live poker is always such a high variance game which can give you big wins and big losses especially when 4-5 ppl call big preflop raise and see the flop These games are soooo fucking retarded that good players are supposed to make 2-3 buy-ins every session. The reality is, you can play your perfect A game all day long but somebody else might still suck out on you the majority of the time

I think that luck is one of the biggest factors in a game of poker, but certainly not the only one. You also need to have the skill and foresight to know what to look out for, and when to stay and when to just fold.

I think it has more to do with skill and good money management than luck. Sure, you need a little luck with the cards, but even if your hand is bad, with good money management you can still walk away with a profit. And isn't that the ultimate goal after all?

Skill and money management are certainly both very crucial to poker success, but I still say that the importance of luck should not be under-estimated either, especially since some of us are very careful and still lose a hell of a lot.
