I was at a home tourny that I go to each week and the guy who organises it recently bought a whole lot more chips, so instead of starting with $100 in chips each with blinds going 1-2, 2-4, 3-6 etc we started with $1000 and the blinds went 15-30, 25-50, 50-100, 100-200, 200-400 eventualy being capped at 500-1000 when there were still 6 guys left out of 20. The blinds were at 100-200 with 10 guys left and pretty much everybody was all in or fold if they wanted to play a hand past the flop. I ended up losing one hand at showdown for about only 3x BB and the next thing I knew it I had to push all in all the time just so I wouldn't bleed to death. This felt much faster than any comparable sized tourny I had ever played in. Was it?

we started with 500 chips, and the blinds went up EVERY 15 MINUTES!
5-10
10-20
20-40
etc.
etc.
15 minutes, that is just WAY TOO fast

Usually I play my rounds about 20 minutes each. And after every third level I usually color up the chips. Starting with 4000 chips each I run my blinds as such.
25/50
50/100
75/150
Remove $25 Chips
100/200
200/400
300/600
Remove $100 Chips
500/1000
1000/2000
1500/3000
2000/4000
