I picked this up from my friend, it's really cool. What you do is when stacking your chips you make a stack with large value chips at the bottom. this stack you should be able to carry with one hand.

What you do is when you feel like you need to get information on a hand, such as if a bet is a steal, or if you should reraise, take the entire stack of chips up with one hand and put your hand out as if to put in all the chips. See how he reacts to this. Does he looked scared? Or does he seems to not care whether you raise or not? depending on your hand and his reaction, you can really put any amount of chips down, even just call.

The reason you put out the big stack of chips is it's scary not knowing what he will do. I know this because my friend has done this to me many times, and everytime I get a little scared and he can tell he'll raise me.

It's really a great technique, try it next time you're playing live.

Maybe I don't understand your spatial description here, but you have to be careful you don't do anything shady, and piss people off by waving chips around, or actually place chips on the table in front of your cards. We usually play the cards rule, such that chips placed in front of your cards is a bet.

I pick up chips and make a move to place in front of my cards, and then smile my most relaxed smile...you can pick up a lot of tells that way. For me, it's in the smile and return facial expression that coaxes the read.

I've seen this before. I'll try to describe it to you spatially. You have a stack of 15-20 chips, with a mixture of all different amounts (in order top to bottom), and when you are considering a fold/call/raise, you pick up the stack of chips and move them a little bit forward with your one hand, you aren't moving them into the pot, you are just moving them to a comfortable position where it will be easier for you to pull the smaller chips off the bottom chips and make a bet. But you are also using it for information.

I understand the any chips past your cards is a bet, but its unnatural to try to handle that big stack of chips when its right in front of you, thus the beauty of setting them up that way.
