Ok, sunglasses are kind of wank overall. But they do serve a purpose.

I don't visit the B&M as much as I used to, but I would put in some Serious hours back in the day. I mean 12 hrs was just getting started. I wore sunglasses mainly to protect my eyes from the light. Aside from the normal ambient light, casinos are notorious for overloading your senses with all kinds of stimuli, including bright lights. Sometimes even all red flops would hurt my eyes (especially when holding all black).

I think the disguising reactions factor is minimal. Reading opponents without their knowing is a much bigger plus.
Mainly, though, it just kept my eyes from getting overtired, making me feel more tired than I actually was.

I didn't really care if it made me look like a tool.

Yes, but you don't have to look like an ass with sunglasses either. They can be relatively good looking too instead of just huge black foakleys....

What's wrong with Oakleys? Good optics, durable, not bad looking, affordable (which basically = I'm not dropping $400 + on sunglasses unless they're attached to a call girl). The only drawback is that they're not real comfortable for long periods.

But that reminds me, I'd bring Tiger Balm for similar reasons. The fact is, you spend any time in the poker room and you're going to run into some seriously foul odor. A couple swipes of Tiger Balm in the nostrils and you're good to go.

Haha, Tiger Balm is an old trick from the kiddie days when I used to play M:TG tournaments (yes I'm a geek). Believe me, anyone who plays poker who complains about people who haven't bathed in what seems like weeks need to stop complaining and go to a M:TG prerelease or something.

I just go with RayBans, very durable and comfortable to wear and very affordable. Then again, I wear glasses inside all day when I don't have my contacts on, so I guess I'm used to any discomfort.
