I'm heading to St. Louis on business for a few days at the end of month. Any feedback on the casinos down there?

Go to either Ameristar or Harrah's. They aren't actually in the city though. There ~20 minute drive from downtown. They're currently building a new casino downtown but that doesn't help you. The other casino downtown is a boat and has a poker room but it's like playing in a dungeon. I recommend you don't waste your time with it.
Ameristar I think has around 16 tables and is fairly nice. They always have 1/2NL ($100 min, $300 max) and 3/6 LHE running. They have other games going but it varies depending on the day of the week. On Friday and Saturday they ususally have a 3/6 or 5/10 HORSE game going which is fun to get drunk and play. It's pretty standard for several of the players at the game to not know how to play some of the games. I don't mean that they're simply bad, because they all are. I mean that several of them won't even know the basic rules of some of the game and just play along according to what everyone is doing.
I personally prefer Harrah's. They remodeled about a year ago and is a much nicer room. They have ~20 tables. They always run $1/2NL ($60 min, $200 max) and $2/5NL ($200 min, $500 max). On Fridays and Saturdays they usually have 1 or 2 $5/10 NL games going. Sometimes the buy-in is capped at $1K and sometimes it's uncapped. They always have $3/6 LHE running and also usually have one bigger game that changes depending on the day of the week (20/40, 30/60, 50/100 LHE and almost always with either a 1/2 or full kill, mixed game, or PLO). Harrah's also had some pretty good tourneys. Thursday night $145+$10 for dealers. 5K starting stack with 30 minute levels starting at 25/50. Saturday $110+10 for dealers with 5K starting stack and 40 minute levels starting at 25/50. The first Saturday and Sunday of the month there is a $300 and $500 tourney respectively. They usually 2 tourneys/day but all the others I didn't specifically mention have a horrible structure.
That's the basics. I've played $1/2NL, $2/5NL, 3/6 LHE, 5/10 LHE, 5/10 7CS, and $3/6 HORSE games so can comment on them more if you'd like. The games at these limits play like any other casino you'd go to though. Loose and bad. There are some regulars in the $2/5NL and $5/10NL when it's running that are decent though. If you have any specific questions I'll answer them the best I can.

Thanks, DaNuts. Not sure if my schedule is going to allow a night out at a casino, but if it does, wheeeeeeeee!!!! I'm going to be there during the week, March 26-29.

Any more updates to add on this? I may be in the area. I called ahead for the low down on tournaments and Harrah's and Ameristar both seem to have a good selection. For cash games, it sounded like Harrah's had more tables running.

Anyone staying downtown can now consider Lumiere Place. It is West of Laclede's Landing(downtown bar area) and a very, very nice new card room according to my sources. I assume it might also get some spill over bar traffic from the Landing later too.
I've been told the normal games are spread 3/6 Limit & 1/2 NL. Probably a higher limit and NL games on the weekend, like 20/40 or 2/5 NL. Room is well adorned and the seats and tables are nice & newer. Daily tourneys at Noon or 1pm. I don't know about auto shufflers, the drop or jackpot info.

My exposure to casinos has been very limited, but this weekend I went to Harrah's in St. Louis. I thought they had a nice poker room. There were about 10 to 15 tables going on Sunday night and several $1/$2 ones which was what I wanted to play. The players seemed REALLY soft. One lady bet $50 into $35 to a king high board and when everyone folded, she showed QQ. Another pot got to at least a buy-in or more and the winning hand ended up being King high?!? I was like, "wtf". I didn't really have a lot of hands, except early in one of the blinds, I got T7 and the flop came 89J for the 2nd nuts. I won a nice pot there. I had a couple other fluke hands like T9 on the button getting runner runner two pair when I was about to give up on the pot to win a nice medium sized pot. The only good starting hands I had were KK which had a paired flop and then an ace on the turn that I had to lay down and an AKo that didn't hit anything and I checked down 4 suits to a flush. But, I stayed patient and focused and didn't do anything crazy and cashed out $346 from my original $200 in just 3 hours. These people were just really loose and crazy and rarely folded. If you can just get some average hands that hold up, it should be pretty profitable more times than not if this was an average sample size of the player pool.
Anyway, long story short, it seemed like a good room and fun place to play poker coming from a guy who has little to compare it to

Amistair is almost out of the poker business. Last time I was there only had two tables. Harrahs is still jumping and Luminere downtown is the new hot spot. I cost 1/2 a billion and the room is always crowded. The staff is very friendly and even playing about three times a month they still call us by name and know the game we play. My wife and I both play. They are trying to move the Admiral which is a boat and a dump. It wont pass Coast Guard inspection and if they move it Pinnacle will lose the license.
In January (?) Pinnacle is opening a new casino which will be about 10 miles from my house..... cant wait. It will be called River City. Luminere gets alot of convention players who want to try poker so the room at times can be a "Fish Pond" but it is also loaded with regulars too. The players at Luminere are a little better players than those at Harrahs, younger and more aggressive so you have to be a little sharper and more selective on starting hands.
