Players have $5,000 in chips, and the blinds are $100 $200 so everyone is around 25x the BB. I have maybe $7,000 since I was lucky to get AA hand No.2 and then AQs hand #3. Most players at the table know I am very tight but some of the newer players might think I am trying to bully. I get dealt KK UTG+1. UTG bets $600 and I 3bet to $2000. Everyone folds and he calls. Flop comes A74. He checks.
How would you play the flop from this point on. There is over $4,000 in the middle. He has $3,000-ish left. I have $4,500ish left.
thanks
Andy

I guess I should of added more details. This is from the Monday morning December 8th 11 am tournament at the Spa Casino in Southern California. This was the hand I was dealt during the first orbit. I know how I played the hand and it didn't work out very well so I was seeking ideas on how others would of played it.

I'd toss my cards in on the flop if he bet. Sure, there's significant chippage out there, but it's early in the tournament. You can still get away from this (potentially) devastating board and make your move later when you've got a better made hand or at least more than 2 outs.

Argh didnt saw the flop before i had bet. Sorry for my mistake.
I would try to bet 500, maybe so he was thinking i tried to get some money in the table with Ax, if he counterbet, or calls, well then i would just check and if he bet i would fold. That for me would be a sure enough answer if he had A or not.
But dont blame me, i never played live poker with real cash, but that was my thought about what i would do if i were in your situation.

IMO any bet leaves you pot committed.
A UTG range for our opponent really depends on how many players were at the table, and how solid the opponent was. If you were at a 10 handed table, and against a very solid player, this is an obvious Check/fold situation unless you catch a king on the turn when you check behind on the flop. Because his range is like 65% hands that beat the crap out of you.
But if he's a poor player, or you're at a 6-max table, the more inclined I would be to try to get it in.

The older I get, the more I start wondering; Just what in the hell is going on here?

check, if he is behind he probably has two outs or less and will fold if you bet now, but after you check the flop he may bluff at it or catch 2nd pair.

I ended up pushing all-in and he called and he called with AJ. I don't think he was trying to trap me...I just think he was playing passively and in retrospect I regret my weak play.
