I live in Fort worth TX which is about 3 hours west of Shreveport, and is probably the closest place with casino's that play hold'em. Anyone been there? I am itching to try my "luck" in a casino. I've played in live cash games, online, and in live tournaments.

I've been several times....the only card room at any of the casinos is at the hollywood. It is small and the wait list is usually long. THe games are really fishy though so if you do sit in on one it will be a good one. I am from Irving and it took us around 2 hours to get there. Good luck Chase

i have sinced moved from fort worth, but i went to a regular $2-4 PL game twice, was a very good experience for me, because i know cardrooms are tougher than casinos usually.
edit: I knew 2 of the dealers there, they hooked it up. If you know where a game is, just try talking to the bouncers/host, they should let you in.

I played in Hollywoods Monday morning $60 buy in tourney last week. While I was there I learned that the Horseshoe is opening a cardroom in late March or early April. I view this as a very good thing, maybe competition will drive down the rake a little. Maybe poker players will start getting a few comps? The 3 hour wait to get on a table on the week-ends was getting ridiculous.
BTW I finished 13th out of 96 players in the tournament. The blinds go up every 15 minutes so you have to just get lucky and catch cards. Not much skill involved when it gets to the final 2 tables. When I busted out the blinds were $8,000-16,000.
The tournament was well ran,but they only pay the top 3 places. Seems a little too tough to get in the money so I'm not sure I would do it again. The re-buy's and add-ons were a little strange too. The entry fee is $60, which gets you $1000 in chips. You can rebuy for $20 and this gets you $1500 chips, so your rebuy is cheaper and it gets you more chips than you started with. The rebuys are unlimited for rounds 1-3. At the end of round 3 there are no more rebuys but you can do an addon for $20 which gets you $2000 in chips.
Anyone have any advise on this strange (to me anyway) set up for rebuys and addon's?

If you go to Shreveport eat at the Cypress Inn. Best catfish you'll ever eat.
