I just got a poker table for Christmas so I'm looking for a few people in my area to start up a home game, seeing as most of my friends are poker-retarded.

I'd be looking at a $10-20 buy-in, make in .5/.10 blinds. Probably wouldn't be able to be weekly, but at least a couple times a month. I live in Newark, DE about 5 minutes off the UD campus. Anyone nearby interested?

EDIT: Above was idea for a ring game, but I'd also be up for tournaments (with or without rebuys, although I'll probably have to buy more chips for rebuys)

My advice would be to first setup a tournament. If as you say your friends are 'poker-retarded', a tournament is a much better venue to get them educated/interested in hold'em.

Once you have a few tournaments, it would be much easier to get a ring game together.

Start with tournament and keep the buy in somewhat small. Freezeout is fine. The home game I attend started out as a small $10 tournament, now every Tuesday we have between 20-30 people consistantly at $20 buy in. Makes a nice $200 first place pot weekly.

Weekly ring games are really for students of the game, most people don't have as much interest in it.

I also recommend a tourney - y0u'll get to play a lot more poker for the $$ you invest, and this is good for newbies.

Also, if you plan on making it a regular (weekly/monthly) tounrey, how about a league?
