I'll be in Santa Clara for a couple days next week. Where's the best place to play some NL? I'm itching to play in Cali for the first time.
Thanks

I see that the WPT is at the 101, is there anywhere else to play nearby? San Jose? Anyone?

I visited my friend in Pleasanton and played at Bay 101 in San Jose. I don't know if there is anything else around. The place seemed pretty small compared to the poker room at Foxwoods. $3/$6 limit seemed to be the game of choice. (I guess this is a California thing.) Don't wait for the $2/$4 tables ... there are like 2 of them.

We went to the 101 and watched the WPT shoot out. It was very cool to see Gus and Scotty and all the others that I see on tv. Anyway, with the WPT there weren't many tables left so the wait lists were rediculous.
We headed over to the Garden City and I played some $2/$4. I had a good time since it was my first time playing in a B&M. (They didn't have any NL) As we were looking around the Garden City we ran into Barry Greenstein. He was there to take some pictures for his book so we chatted it up with him a bit. He was nice and approachable.
Overall the trip was fun even though I lost my buyin after a couple of hours. I just didn't feel like anyone was playing poker. It was just whoever got the best cards won all the money (and none of my playable hands would hit a flop).
Overall though, I liked the feel of GardenCity more than Bay 101, but the 101 has NL so if I ever go back I'll give it a try.
