The most important thing is to not stop questioning- Albert Einstein-Man of the Century.

This theory includes 4 states of mind that can lead to critical erros in anyones game. It's important to self trigger and adjust your game accordingly to exploit and mistakes. I tried to incorporate the Freeze, Flight and Fight Theory from Joe Navarro's Read'Em & Reap. Excellent book and I'd be interested to hear any feedback on this theory.

1. Rushing. I look for obvious timing flaws in their movements. Some players are in a rush and habitually check, bet or call quickly. They check the clock or they are pushing the game pace or they make very fast movements (ex. Happy Feet*...see explanation below if unfamiliar). I expect rushing to lead to errors in later rounds. I'm more likely to play.

2. Frustration. Obvious one in my mind. Contributes to error. You should also make observations of anything else unrelated to poker that may be frustrating your opponent like anti-social or rude behaviour, nic-fit and even leaving for a smoke is a clear sign of stress. They are probably going to come back and think they are in The Zone...and maybe they are. I'll be expecting fight mentality at any point before or during a hand.

3. Fatigue. Better believe this contributes to error. My opponents just want to go home or look like they are on autopilot. They check the clock.. so I ask them if it's about bed time or about time to change gears? I will be looking for Flight responses during a hand.

4. Complacency. This one is a tough one. You have to be really keen to pick up when someone is on autopilot. Or more importantly is to pick up when you yourself are on autopilot. This happens very often after playing at the same stakes and at the same place or with the same people. You feel some dejavu one hand when you think you're making the right move and lose your stack to a set. You wonder what happened and if you missed a step. The truth is you were complacent and did miss a step. Then you auto reload without thinking about conditions. The point is to self trigger on something you see your opponent doing wrong and then see your self doing. Monkey see monkey do sometimes. I'm no monkey but I think that sums it up.

If someone is exhibiting one or all of these states of mind. I'm going be inclined to isolate at every opportunity to give my opponent every chance to make a mistake.

*Happy Feet. This is when your opponents is bouncing their legs. I usually interpret it as high confidence. But sometimes opponents will pretend. Regardless you should have other information to go on beside just any one tell.
Don't knock on deaths door... ring the bell and run! Death hates that LOL.
