I'm breaking my live NL cherry, and was curious what the operating procedure was for reloading one's stack?
I'll playing at a $100 buyin full table w/ $1/$2 blinds... IN CASE THINGS GO SLOW AT FIRST (or all day..) I still want to keep my chip stack from dipping too low below the max buyin, in case I actually catch a hand that could double up. I can imagine asking the dealer for chips often would be annoying as hell. How does this usually work?
From what I've read on here, with blinds at $1/2 $10 will probably be the standard PF raise... is this still consistent with what many people see at B&M games?
I've been playing up to $100NL online.. playing about 20/10.. with plenty of aggression... I'm guessing I'll need to pull back a little on the aggression with nothing due to passive players for the live game, yes?

First Good luck!! Second, stick to your game plan! Don't start playing crap because your getting no good hands. LIVE play is much slower.
I've played at FOXWOODS, when you get below $40 you can ask the dealer to rebuy, only another $100.
So theoretically, you can sit down, buy in for $40, then play one hand. If your stack is now under $40 you can rebuy for $100, so now you will have $130+. ( a little better)
Also you have to pay $5 every 1/2 hr. You will now when its time (at FOXWOODS) because the wall lights will come on. At this time the dealer will say something like time, and everyone will pay the $5.
Also if you want to tip (called a toke) the dealer, usually $1 when you win a nice pot. Remember a toke is for good service, if the dealer sucks, I don't tip. If the dealer is really good, I tip extra. Some dealers are very good, and some well I don't know how they got the job..
when I was playing 1/2 NL people were raising the blinds to between 10 and 15$.
And good luck!!

Where I play, max buyin is $200. Anytime you're below $200, you can ask anyone working on the floor to buy you chips. Then you just give them money and they get it for you.
When I raise preflop, it's always at least $10. Depends on the table.
Where I play, there is no fee for every half hour you are there.
Ah and I def agree with what you say regarding the passive players. Sooo player dependent though ... the good thing is that you'll be so bored that you'll have time to make some really good reads

Courtiebee, how does the casino make their money? Do they take a percentage of the pot?

All card rooms either take time or rake each pot, without exception.

Although I've only been 4-tabling 100NL (pokerroom sucks) recently, I have a feeling that I'll be bored off my head. So I thought I'd make a list of things to do to keep my interest while I fold.
1. I don't have much skill reading tells live, so the plan is to focus on betting amounts and try to get a feel for what bets mean what. What PF raising ranges people are on, etc...
2. I plan to work on counting the pot on every hand. Not in an obvious way (with an abacus or something), but I think always knowing what the pot is whne the action gets to me, or when the f, t, and river are dealt will be HIGHLY beneficial... I don't want to get caught counting the pot when trying to make a decision.
3. Not give too much a way... Every poker player wants to think of themselves as unreadable, but I'm fairly certain that I wear most of cards on my sleeve when I play live. Any quick tips for this? I'm looking for some Mad Mike Caro strategy... I just don't want to be sitting in my chair with the poker equivalent of my dick on the table.
Thanks much!

I went to the casino today... NL didn't open up till sometime in the afternoon, but I played 3/6 limit (i have no f'ing idea how to play limit btw) for 5 hours and managed to walk away with $60 despite getting sucked out on for some decent pots in the last 30 minutes.
I managed to play 100NL for about an hour (my back was aching after 6 hours at the casino... help tips for this?)... the play was pretty awful.. plenty of raising, plenty of calling... I have a strong feeling that a decent TAG game could eat it up.
To answer my own question from the topic... I think the best idea is to buy an extra $60 worth of chips and just keep 'em in your pocket. Then when you are a little short.. you can just add-on via the pocket chips. If you are down a sizeable amount... probably best to buy them from the dealer or the floor manager.
Tks for the tips all...

Where I play(Ceasers Indiana), you can't rebuy at the table. It's also hard to find someone to get chips for you. Going back to the cage and waiting in line can take 10 minutes at peak times, and the rake is on a time basis so time is money.
the 1/2 game has a $300 max buyin, so I usually get $600 and put three blacks in my pocket and dip into it as needed. The 2/5 is no max buyin(yuck), which I've been avoiding lately as the sharks will sitdown with $5K+ in chips.
As far as not giving away tells...don't look at your cards until action is to you and try to play every hand you're in the same manner, any extra/different movements give opps that much more of a chance to get a read. Those are just a couple of simple things.
