I'm pretty confident i've got ABC poker pretty well understood at this point, to take my game to the next level i need to get reads. So, how do i get them?
Do people make notes on paper or use built in not facilities in poker rooms?
How quickly do you decide what type of player someone is.
Do you write things like fish/rock or TAG/LAG/TAP or p72 preflop/called allin with flush draw.
What sort of things are critical? I usually find one player does something unusual and i then study his play and get something of a read on him but there are still 8 others who i don't have a read on and i'm unlikely to create one unless i see them do something weird. If i have no read i usually think what would i do in this situation which is not ideal as i'm quite a tight player and this can lead me to fold a lot of hands, especially 2 overs on a raggy board. I usually play NL ring games so there should be time to generate reads.
Soupie made a few comments during a game yesterday that were on a different plane to my level of analysis and i want to achieve this for myself.
Sorry this is rambling, all thoughts welcome.

PS in a 50/5 SNG with a player that I had noted was very bad... calling AIs with middle pair, ISD,etc. Dude raised 3x PF in pot that I had folded, flop comes A high all Ds, he leads out and ends up breaking someone with KdQd!
I may have gone broke too, given my note.... I do think it's worthwhile to note raises especially when you can see the cards, but given the small sample you get playing with someone, I wonder how much stock to put into the notes I take.
I know I personally may drop down and play a low level turbo tourney very aggresively after a tough day - if I pick up pots bluffing or catch hands great, if not so be it. Someone taking notes on me there is probably in big trouble if they play me in a real (to me) tourney later.
