live games i think is alot about position and patience.
i alway think that if you can see more hand playing live poker the better you will fare.
what i mean by that is dont just play over cards and expect to hit your hands or over bet mid pair and expect that to be a winner.
i discard so many good hands and i am glad for it to as i see so many go out so early playing over cards in live games and think it is the winner of every hand.
and to see that and play against those players you can really rake them over the coals if yo uknow what i mean.especially if you ar ein postion on them.
it just takes alot of patience and seeing as many hands as possiable.

i dont think its an optimal way to beat live loose passive games.
Yeah, We need patience, aggression and positions but we dont have to compete to be a table bully and see as many hands as possible.

why do you think live poker makes position any different. position is alwys importnt, live or online,. position determines what your levrage is in a hand. this doesnt change online. i am planning on plying more live now than online--which i plyed for yrs.--and would like to know if there is any diffenrence with how position affects the game in a live game.

You don't need to play a lot of hands. The rake cuts into your profits playing a lot of those extra hands. However in a low or no rake game, you should open up a bunch.

Patience is important, but if you play too tight you'll get blinded down, or go on tilt when your aces get cracked (after waiting over an hour to get them).

Well, this is something I´ve never thought before! It seems correct to me. Thanx for the clue!

I use to play mostly online - now and then I go to live tables, but only home games - even though I think opponents tend not to respect position very much while online - live games are much more intimidating...

see i find live games less intimidating. seems to me that more people call big bets online when they have no business being in the hand. sometimes it almost feels like play money st live games you have more control because you have the chnce to really read someone. at least thats why I like live more than online

For meaningful amounts of money, live players make a lot more WTF calls for big money. Also, a lot of humor value is mercifully lost in the muck in a live game.
Online hands can look pretty odd in isolation, but given the amount of aggression and floating going on it's not really that far out of line.

I am not quite sure why your live play would be significantly different from online play, except for getting a feel for the other players.
All the usual factors should apply, including getting a read on people during online play as the way they bet including timing, bet size, their table position, etc.
Isn't it always about all the factors coming in to play for the situation you find yourself in?

Different mistakes and people play more hands per orbit in live.

I totally disagree with that. Online players tend to love to click buttons.

Online you go through hands faster and can discreetly look up hands that reached showdown. This creates a perception problem.
In a live game, the WTF calls often silently hit the muck.
That said, there can be a scared money factor when the big money hits the table. I've also seen a lot of WTF face-up folds when I've gone over the top of someone to fold out the bottom of their range. Particularly in the 1k game.
