Should I attend?
Oklahoma has recently passed gaming laws to allow card games such as blackjack and poker back into the Indian Tribe casinos. I recently called on a casino, Lucky Star to see about there card games. They gave me the information to contact about getting a job as a cardroom manager. There cardroom will not be ready until mid April. I got in contact with the GM who is over the cardroom operation and has invited me to their poker school in El Reno. El Reno is about 20 - 30 minutes away from me all highway, and was wondering if this is a good investment. They attend M-F 6-10 the only time I can attend except MW. The school is free, they also have an audition in April to get a job as a dealer. My question is it worth it to take time out of my already busy life to make it more hectic. Do dealers make good money at the poker games? Maybe the guys that went to Las Vegas know.
I havent talked to my lady or family about it yet just wanted some info or suggestions.
Oh, he said in order to be a cardroom manager I have to gain experience first in dealing cards in a casino atmosphere which I understood.
thanks

Sounds like fun, and a good idea if this might be a career path that would interest you.

Do it. it's free. you can use it as a fall back job anywhere with casinos. It's sort of like learning how to be a short order cook. If you can make eggs, you can get a job anywhere.
As to actualy being a dealer for more than six months or so... maybe, if it's fun.

I just got hired for table dealing at Great Canadian Casinos. I'm still in the training (4 weeks for: BlackJack, Baccarat, Pai Gow, Let it ride, etc). From what I hear, tips usually equal or exceed your paycheques. But at the Casino that I'm now working for you need to deal Blackjack for a year to become a poker dealer (2 years for roulette and craps).
