Calling all serious poker players! I am in the process of getting a
general concensus of if I started a Poker Club would anyone be
interested in playing?
Let me share my vision:
I would host 2 tournaments weekly, weds night, and sunday night. These
tournaments would be for decent players and up, 21 and up only. I am
looking into buying two full length poker tournament tables, and will
have a custom chip set with my poker club logo on them.
The tournaments would be run professionally by me, meaning I have a
program that keeps track of seating arrangements, blinds and payout
structures, how much time is left in the blind rounds each, and the
prize payout!
Max players would be 22, there would be free food (we would vote by
email on what type of food would be catered each tourny) and there
will be a bar with free drinks (limited to only 3 drinks per person, I
don't want any drunk drivers leaving the poker club).
I would structure the tournaments to be geared toward experience
rather than luck, i.e each player would start with around 16k in
chips, blinds would start at 50/100 and increase every 15 mins. There
would be a break around the 1st hour.
I would probably host a ring game afterward for those interested.
If this sounds like something you would like to attend, or have
questions shoot me an email. Remember I am in the process of forming
my club, this hasn't been established yet, just looking for interested
parties.
The game is No Limit Texas Holdem!

I'm playing now in a home game which goes every other month. $100 buy-in tounament pays 5 places. You get knocked out, there is usually a ring game to occupy your time until the second tournament starts. The cast of characters keeps me sharp as it's a shark tank. We usually pull in about 28 players for the first and less the second. Keep me in mind as I am always looking for good play. I'm in West Springfield. I'll check out the lists recommended too.
You also have to remember the risk factor. In my area, people are selective for security reasons. I hear about games from other players. I have to be concerned with who is reading about the games. It's a shame but a fact of life. Every other month, a poker mag is warning about a hit at a hoem game.

I'm in Nova....we actually have a league....well, quite a couple.
I'm only 20, though I might be interested in checking things out if the stakes were high enough. $100-150 tourney buy in...maybe a 1/2 or 2/5 cash game afterwards.
I'd be able to fill open slots you need filled as well. I know a good amount of guys always looking for action.

there is an underground cardroom in d.c. now called watergate west or ww. it used to be in the watergate hotel but now it is behind a restaurant in the foggy bottom neighborhood. professionally operated with dealers and a rake, well run, secure, and offering $1/$2 NL and $2/$5 NL cash games almost daily, as well as tourneys every sunday. ask around town and you will probably find someone who can hook you up. beats the hell out of driving 3.5 hours to atlantic city.

So when they get busted, they know to come to your donk azz since you publicized the addy here, right?
Just thought I'd follow up and let everyone know in the DC Metro area that DC, Md, and Va's finest are busting places left and right ove the last few months. If you are rakin', get ready to get taken!
Places hit in Va were in Woodbridge, Fairfax County, Great Falls, and Annandale. Every one of them had police playing at the games! We have a man in blue who is a reg in our game. The key here is that there is no house take of any kind. Our game is clean!
No way I'm playing in a raked game. We also are "protected" as much as we can for robbery but who knows how far that goes. Be safe, people! There are better ways to advertise games. Our group decided a while ago that we aren't taking any new people we don't know.

I'm in Arlington and would probably be interested in playing in a nearby game. Anyone live near Arlington?

i have heard of many, many busts in virginia but none in d.c. itself. ww has serious security, unlike the busted games that were played in people's townhouse basements. some of those va games were only busted b/c of all the mysterious cars parked in suburban neighborhoods... the cops suspected drugs or other nefarious activity, not poker.
