Hey guys.

I was just wondering who if any of you live in the Chicago area and if so whether you play in the Chicago Charitable Games and what your experience has been there. I've been 3 times so far and had a blast two of those times.

I found the 1/2 cash games to be every bit as weak as the 1c2c is online. It was literally like playing micros but for 100 times the stacks lol

No, but I'm thinking of moving there next year. How often do these games run and where? Do they have poker at the Casinos in Chicago?

I just turned 21 so I haven't checked out any casinos in the area but here is the website for the CCG.
http://www.chicagocharitablegames.com/

they run every weekend friday and saturday all around the Chicago area (hotels, VFWs, empty ball rooms, etc.). It's fun and pretty chill. The first time I played i bought in for 100 got it in with QQ against AK and 33 and lost my stack and bought in for another 80. Finished the day with 735 in front of me for a nice 2 hour profit. The tournament structures have had some complaints as they are pretty turbo but I didn't really mind them that much.

You should check out the casinos. Most $1/$2 NL tables at the casinos I frequent in St. Louis are pretty soft too.

I've played the single and multi table tourney games and did well here in Chicago. A little nervous on playing the cash games since I'm a newbie. What do you feel is the difference between cash and tourney play and is the skill level the same or different?

the differences between cash and tournaments is that you have often between 10-50bbs in tournaments and sometimes those chips are worth lots more than they seem due to ICM

cash you often have 100-500bbs and more postflop skill is required.
