$5/$10 NLHE $1500 effective
Straddle - Semi-loose/passive likes to gamble but timid for big money. Thinks I'm very dangerous.
BB - nitty, very timid
SB - semti-loose very timid/passive
MP - Plays just about any 2 cards, very stabby and likes to confront people with pot sized bets to take away pots. His thieving and value betting skills keep him from going busto despite his absurd pre-flop play. Hasn't yet figured out that playing big pots out of position against me is a recipe for pain and suffering.
Straddle to $20
MP calls (like at least 75% of hands)
We have on the button. What's our play?

Well you're way ahead of the straddles retard range. And if MP can't play big pots against you well out of position, and tries to steal too much, may as well put in a raise on the button to get a big pot rolling.

The older I get, the more I start wondering; Just what in the hell is going on here?

i'd raise/isolate the bad player and plan some multi-street bluffing depending on the board texture. Also,I tend to call down with pair hands in position given that he loves to stab at the pot. Anyways, it's supposed to be +EV to play K9s on BT vs these guys.
raise $100 now.

Let's get the ball rolling and get to the first interesting decision.
I raise to $80
SB folds
BB calls (see read)
Straddle folds!
MP calls.
~$250 in the pot 3 way
:Ks: :Jc: :Th:
Checked to me...

See,
I like the 150-200 range bet here. His call feels like suited connectors or a medium pp, like 99 or something.

underbet like $100 should do the trick on this flop.I'd shut down on the turn if the nitty player calls. fold if anyone comes over the top.

Why does everyone want to keep this pot small when our opponent mis-plays the crap out of hoodge pots?

well with your reads it's a crying call but I'd just sigh, fold, and order a shot
I think betting the turn is fairly close, don't mind it.

No one has shit and a zillion worse hands/draws are calling. Getting raised sucks, but meh.
I agree that $100 pre-flop and a flop bet is pretty spewy.

< -- does not play 5/10
I'd make it 100 pre - 90 if it were online, but I don't want to get too tricky with bet sizing live. I'd be happy to build a pot in position, and I don't really want it to go multi way.
wtf @ gaybetting the flop... I see no reason for anything but a check. You can't get 3 streets of value, but you can get yourself in a world of hurt.
I'd bet 150 on the turn... I think you're getting called by Jx, Qx, 9T, Kx anyway, and I'd like to get more value... I think it's very rare that they check something on the turn that beats you.
River: could he be calling the turn with a Q (instead of betting) - planning to bluff a spade river?

i dont know about 5-10 live games. In 1/2 NL live, the players are bad enough for me to bet one or two streets. As i said above, you are basically done after the nitty player calls. You know that you are not going broke with this hand.
i look him up on the river and lose to backdoor flush.

What percentage of the time do you cbet this? I would cbet this flop $200 75% of the time. I play 1/2 and 2/5 trhough and don't think I am going to get re-raised by anything other than a flopped joint. I can see a 5/10 player c/r me light because I do have a tendancy to cbet a lot and I hate calling a c/r and commiting myself to a huge pot with tpnk.

This is almost always a check behind for me.

They don't c/r light that often. Players are more important than stakes. The bigger money just makes people play kinda funny if they're on scared money.

So whats the reasoning behind checking behind on this flop? Are we trying to induce stabs from MP? Would you check behind with AK here?

Fnord's play preflop/flop/turn seem perfect to me. KJT seems a horrible board to cbet, especially after a call from a nit. In the heat of the moment I have a hard time folding but I looking at it objectively I don't see what we beat.
Edit: thought we were in against the nit. I suppose we're calling vs. MP stabtard.

Betting the flop here is stupid. This board just smashed the nitty player in the face and his check says little to NOTHing about his hand. The turn check however, says he doesn't plan on commiting many chips to the pot, lucky for us.

River is a fairly simple call for me. TP is quite likely the best hand against this villain.
Only thing I might've done differently is a slightly larger turn bet.
