Another week and another tourney. And once again it was won by a woman who had no idea what she was doing. And once again I didn't get card or table support to keep her in check. And when I did she'd pull it out her rear on the river.
Is there any real way to play this player in a tournament setting? I know in cash games this is the kind of player you want, but it seems in a tourney they just screw everything up. Check, bet - raise, call- reraise, call. Oh look, my 9/2 off suit won the hand, tee hee . This is only my second tournament. (Although she claims to have been playing poker since she was 13.)
It makes me wonder why I even bother reading strategy. Any two cards can win or lose so what the hell? Play them all. What does one do against someone who dosen't now any better? Because ignorance is bliss, and bliss walked out the door with $500 in her poket. And it really isn't the money. It's just the smug look of someone thinking they are a good player.
Now I'm sure in the long run she'll lose all that money back to the tournament, but in the mean time I'm pissed. I want to play poker not the lotto. Which is what these idiots are turning the game into. I guess I'll end my little rant here. I know deep down inside there really is nothing that can be done against this type of player except to play tight and hammer them when you get the cards. Hopefully they'll stay true to form and call you down.
If there are any other tidbits of advice I'd appreciate them.

i'll give the blah blah blah "wait for the right time and set a trap - because these bozo's are fairly easy to trap" answer, but you already know this.
and yes, i know how aggravating it is.
the other thing i'll say is: get used to it. with poker now "the next big thing", it's only going to get worse.
personally, i'm not bothered to much by this...

Thanks for the sympathetic ear fish. And I agree that it is only gonna get worse too. Sometimes too much of a good thing is bad. To ease matters I won back what I lost last night on a sit and go at party. So all is right in the poker world again.
I must say. Fish has some of the best avatars I've seen on this site. Nothing like a nice round bottom to brighten up the day. :P
On a side note: The reason this gets to me is that I don't play with nearly the bankroll some of you guys play with. So sadly enough, $50 bucks is missed. And I don't mind losing, but to lose to bad players purely on luck makes me want to do the "Hulk Smash!!" thing.

Sounds like my wife..last night we had a 6 person home game. Wife has NEVER played hold-em, she's only watched Celebrity Poker...what a great learning tool, eh? For her it is. She managed to bluff out my buddy holding 72o when an A fell on the river. She went all-in and forced him out of the pot when he had a pair of kings...she didn't have squat. Not only that, but she busted me out. 4 person game, I held KQ, paired K's on the flop and went all-in. She calls with A7o, she paired 7's on the flop. Hits a 7 on the river to give her trips..... Her and my buddy that she bluffed with 72o are heads up, he's got her 2 to 1 in chips. Manages to hit all her damn cards on the flop and busted him out in 3 hands......it was insane. I asked her how the hell she won and she said..."I didn't know what I had, I just played like they do on Celebrity Poker".

Wait until the day comes when you drop $650 in a few days, that's when you start to really push the pain barrier . . .

Sounds to me you just had bad luck , Trapping this bozos is really easy,
the problem is to wait for that situation to arise.
Just Keep playing Solid
