first night in, played 1/3 limit hold em at the Palms. I HATE Limit hold em, but we were off the strip a bit and the group didn't want to travel very far, so I stuck with the majority. Family pots a plenty, so your best bet is to play drawing hands and hope they hit. Wound up $35 for the night.
Bought in for $160 at the $2/$5 NL game at the Palms the next day. It was a $500 max buy in, so I'm pretty short stacked to begin with, but I managed a double up in my first hand played (after sitting idle for about 2 orbits being card dead) with A-9 on the button against an A-5 limper in first position. Flopped top two pair and he called with just a paired ace and a crappy kicker. Whatever, I wasn't complaining Smile A few winning hands later, and I cashed out for $539.
Later that evening (much later, like 1 AM) played the $1/$2 NL game at Excaliber. Bought in for $200 and cashed out for $503 after doubling up with AKs following a check-raise all-in with a K-7-2 rainbow flop.
Headed to Binion's downtown the next day to play in the $60 with $40 rebuy tourney. Lost a good chunk with pocket 9s in the small blind. Raised a good bit, and BB called. Flop came 2-7-2 and I bet out. Called, and 6 came. Bet again and was called. 5 hit the river and I checked. Bet into with $300 (about 1/3 of the pot) and called with the over pair. Was hoping he was playing A-x and had hit the smaller pair. Turned over 2-7, called from a raised pot. Grrrrr.
Crippled me a bit, but started pushing some pots after the break when first in with position (my 'M' was around 3 for those that have Harrington's latest), and picked up the blinds and antes, as well as doubling up once with A4o.
Last hand I played, dealer limped in, and I called with QKo in the SB. BB checked as well. Flop came 7-J-Q rainbow, dealer checked and I went all in (about $2000 raise with a $1500 pot at this point). BB folded, and dealer turned over pocket As. 9 hit the turn, giving me a gutshot straight draw, but A came on the river to knock me out.
All in all ended up about $650 on the trip, which wasn't too bad Smile
