Ok, now that I am gainfully employed, I'm going to attempt one of the daily no-limit tournaments down in AC. I'm thinking of the Taj's wednesday tournament. My question is, should I end up in the money (any position,) what is the procedure for tipping the dealer(s)?

Just wondering, as I've never played a tourney in a casino.
There is always hope.

When you cash in they will usually raise the subject for you. It's entirely up to you but I think it is reasonable to tip 10%, could be more if you win big like first place or are feeling generous.

If you don't make the money, you don't tip.

Thanks.
I just didn't know what the process was/is.

Not that I'm saying I'll get in the money...I just want to be prepared.

When you place in a Taj tourney, the lady that writes up your voucher will point to a jar on the table and tell you that although you are not required to, the dealers greatly appreciate tips. I have rarely seen the first few ITM drop much in and if they do it is around $10 (off a $150-$300 win). I have seen the top few finishers drop anywhere from $20-$150 (off a $800-$3000 win).

From "Positively Fifth Street" by Jim McManus, the big winners in the WSOP tip the dealers between two and eigth percent. Out of his $247,760 win, he tipped $7500 (around 3%).

Thanks for the reply. That's exactly what I wanted to hear (as with the above post.)

By your post, I'm assuming you've played in one of their tourneys? How was it

They run a decent tourney. Usually 100-150 entrants. Start with 5000 in chips. Antes start around level 4. You can sit pretty tight until the first break but after that the blinds and antes shoot up quickly so unless you built a big stack at the start you will need to make a move at this point. Good mix of regulars and first time live tourny players.
