Went to play my home game now that some friends are back from college. Haven't played much at all live since playing online and finding this site.

So anyway, only four people show up and we play a 2$ sit n go, winner take all. They were taking the game seriously but I just couldn't focus because I was wishing I was playing an MTT online that i had unregistered for to come here where I though there'd be at least 8 people.

so anyway we were playing omaha this particular hand and I flopped 3 jacks, one in my hand. I also held an A. I knew the other two guys had thier flush and figured I had 3 cards in my hand and 2 on the board that could pair for my house so i went in to try to knock two out which would put me at 5 to 1 chip advantage heads up. i lost oh well.

So i volunteer to deal. So I now get to watch my three friends play for an hour and a half without having to worry about my cards. I picked up on so many tells. I'm the only one who has read any poker books, played online or done anything to improve my game. This unfortunately has only taught me that against my very looses homegame to play straight poker and make em pay to draw.

So anyway, my brother is in one hand. KxxT with two spades. 5 of spades hits and he sits straight up and puts his cards face down and waits for the other guy to bet. I'm like oh, he made his flush. In actuality the 5s made him two pair Kings and Fives.

Had i been in this hand with trips i probably wouldve folded, reading a flush.

So my question after all this long background is how could I have put him on two pair instead of a flush? Are some groups too fishy to read or should I have put some clues together from his past betting? Now these guys bet anything, i mean pot sized bets on flush draws which makes it ahrd to know if they have a legitimate hand or not.

It sounds like you are playing Omaha wrong. If he had 2 spades in his hand and a third spade hit, he would have a flush, not 2 pair.
If there were less than 3 spades on the board, there is no possible way that he made a flush, No matter how many spades he had.

Usually good tells only tell you whether a person thinks they are strong or weak. If you are against bad players, tells are less important, because often they misread the strength of their hand
i.e. getting a flush on the river to a probable full house.

EDIT: You mean the board was KxxT? I thought that was his hand, sorry.
