I just came back from Vegas. I had a pretty good time although I didn't get to play as much poker as I would have liked due to other commitments. I did spend about 8 hours in the Luxor room. Here are my thoughts:
1. Its a small room. About 12 tables total. They had 2/4 Limit, 3/6 Limit, 4/8 Limit, 1/2 NL(up to 3 tables at a time), Stud (not sure of structure since I don't play) and various tourneys. I was there mid week and half the tables were not in use.
2. The used a wierd 3 blind structure (small, small, big) at NL on the first night I was there. The next night they were using standard blinds and Jimmy, the dealer I talked to said the 3 blind was gone for good.
3. The cash games were very soft. I was totally bummed that I didn't have more free time. Lots of newb types. Also lots of oldtimers who were trappy and chasy. I showed down 3 hands in 4 hours the first night. Doubled my buyin without making a monster. 10NL on UB is much tougher.
4. At the 1/2 NL table the MAX buyin was $100. However, when you get to $98 or lower you can buy another 100. Buy the extra 100. Few others do and you will have everyone covered.
5. The tourneys are $62.50 for 800 in tourney chips. You can buy 400 more for $3. The big blind starts at 50 however so its pretty much a crapshoot with starting stacks at 24 times the big blind and 15 min escalations. They average 20-30 players. I wouldn't recommend them.
6. A TAG with time on his hands should clean up here. Starting hand selection was awful and few were keeping track of pot size so you often get calling odds for your draws.
7. Half the tables have auto shuffle and half do not.

Next time I won't bring the wife.
Those who wander are often actually lost.
