Just got back from a Vegas trip and wanted to report my findings and possibly help someone out who's planning a trip with a small br. I didn't actually get to play too much poker there because it was a b-day party and I was pre-engaged going in. But what I did find was that the Sahara has daily $40+2 R&A tourneys everyday at 11am and 11pm. 2000 starting chips and for $20 you can rebuy/add on another 1500 until the first break. Blinds increase every 20 mins I think. I played Saturday morning and the game was similar to $5-$20 MTTs online. Some good players and some real bad players. 88 total entrants and 1st got about $1600. There aren't many low stakes tourneys in Vegas so I thought maybe someone may want to check the game out if they're going.
I also played a $100 NL game at the Tropicana (don't recommend staying there) and it was real fishy. Guy next to me flopped 2 pr holding A3 and said "I'll get the str8 chasers out" and overbet the $30 pot by about $20. I said "that should do it". . . nope. Turn made it 4 to the wheel str8 and a guy holding 85 dragged a monster at the end. I only played for 45 mins and made $40. I'm pretty sure most places you go for cash games would be pretty much the same.
*edit* also want to mention that in the tourney they have cocktail service and drinks are still free. Don't know how they make money that way but for $2, all-you-can-drink is pretty good.

They make money because it's courtesy to tip your cocktail waitress

"they" = the casino. the casino charges in $2 tournament fees and gives out $10-$20 in free alcohol per player. it don't add up.
in a ring game, i'm winning at least one big pot every hour so i'm paying the house at least $4/hr for those drinks.
