Soo i've been playing a fair amt of Live poker at my local casino (the treasury) in brisbane and i think this live stuff is growing on me. Problem is, the only stake my casino has is 2/5NL tables some you can only buy in with 50bb max, and others 100bb max. I'm fairly confident i can beat the games for a decent buck..but am just wondering how big of a roll I would need to have too play in the game seriously.
Is 5k (10bis) enough? Should my BR requirements change simply because I'm playing 1 table, or does it not make much difference? How many bi's do u guys bring when u plan to sit for a session?

Apologies if this has been discussed b4...

$5k works if you can invest money from your day job if you run bad.
$10k works if you can't and are able to crush the game without going too wild.

..but then again I'm a bankroll nit. Almost always have at least 50 buy-ins for any game I play.

If you're carrying around a lot of cash, consider safety.

Valet or get an escourt to your car after a win.
Know where the nearest police station is. Drive through if you think you're being followed.
Use the player bank at your home casino.

There was a follow-home robbery of a 5/10 player recently and it's had me re-evaluate how I handle my money.

woah thats scary. It's always been in the back of my mind when im on my way home from a winning session. Was it a player at the tables that did the robbery?

A winner from the Aussie Millions a couple years ago got mugged on his way back to his hotel...that'd suck.

I think i'll grind a bit more online until i have a really healthy roll b4 i start playing Live seriously... which i hope will be in the last 1/4 of the year. I think i'll go with the 10k approach. cheers.

I've been lucky so far, but I've heard the horror stories regarding carrying cash out of casinos.

It's certainly a good idea to use a player's bank and get the casino to write you a check for any particularly large winnings.
