just wondering if anyone else has had any experience with the new generation of Kem cards. for those who aren't sure, the old generation says "Kem Plastic Playing Cards, INC" on the ace of spades while the new generation say Kems by USPC or something to that affect.
anyway, a friend of mine just purchased a deck of the USPC generation cards and insisted we started using them in our home game rather than my casino clubs. no problem, was interested to see if there was any difference. noticed a little change in the texture and the red on the hearts and diamonds was a little different, but other than that, everything seemed cool. then at our last game, only the second night we used the USPC set, the corner chipped off of the ace of diamonds. not sure how it happened, we found the piece that came off and there was nothing in that area that would have caused it. my friend was not pleased, kems are supposed to last years, not two nights. he will be seeking a refund or a new deck.
anyone else have any similar experiences? i have four decks of the old generation kems, and after about two years of hard home game play every two weeks, they are just as good as the day I bought them. just wondering if this had happened to anyone else.

Cracked corners are not uncommon with Kems. You have to check if they still have the replacement policy in effect. For the most part KEM's are the shizzy, although Copag is gaining huge amounts of ground for quality as well as price.

I just bought two decks of Copag cards for around $13 + 1.50 s & h off of Amazon.com last week and I am very impressed with their quality. I'd say they are 95% of what kem cards are quality wise, and the price is about half of a kem deck. If you want to get cheap, good cards I'd say go with copag.
As far as your question goes, yes I had the same probelm with a kem deck I had a few months ago. Some of the corners got chipped off somehow. I mailed them back to kem with a letter of complaint and they sent me replacements, so it worked out fine.

fyr, there is a sticky at the top of the forum that recommends KEMs for all home games. may i suggest revising it to recommend copags? they seems to have replaced KEM as the "industry standard" ever since USPC purchased and fucked the product line. i even see copags at casinos now instead of KEMs.
