Ok, the opinion is almost unanimous with KEM as the cards I should get, but should I get them in Bridge or Poker size. The tourney I play in always uses bridge size cards and the players act that is the only size to play with. But I have bighands and find them small looking. Does this really matter or should I just go with personal preference.

Go with what you like best.

Many consider the bridge size more comfortable, and that can mean a bid difference if you are dealing for a long time. Also there are many occasions (for me anyway) when its not just me dealing, so I lean towards the smaller bridge size. After playing with them for just a little while you will not notice the difference.

I have big hands and prefer the poker index, but most people I know like the bridge index better.

i'm a poker size man myself, but i have numerous decks of Kems and i have about the equal number of poker and bridge. i bring at least one of each size to my home games, and i get mixed views on each size. i think it's just a matter of what you want. you will get some die hards on here who will only play with poker size simply because they are called "poker" size, but don't let that deter you, you play with what you want. most casinos use bridge size anyway.
"But they were suited?!?! You idiot!!"

if it makes any difference to you, all poker cardrooms use bridge sized cards.

One more question. Are poker size KEMs a little stiffer in feel than the bridge size or about the same?

I like KEM because they are virtually indestructable, markable, etc., but I always thought they were a little 'flimsy' in feel. I was thinking that the extra 1/4 inch in width might stiffen them up a bit.

casinos use KEMs with a stiffer cardstock. the size of the card has nothing to do with it. the casino cards are actually thicker. you can buy the casino cards at some websites but they are generally priced $10 higher than the regular "home use" KEM cards.
