Straddle, a bunch of limpers, I jack it up to $150 from the SB. 4 players call.
over $750 in the pot, no one has more than $400 behind.
Ace Ace Rag
I shove.
3 folds, then guy with over $300 behind goes BALISTIC saying he has a jackpot hand. I reply "Sorry I don't play for jackpots." He goes on life tilt and folds.
BTW, total jackpot is $13k Aces full of Tens or better beaten by Quads or better. Both hole cards must play.
I think I played it right at the expense of the table.
edit: Fixed typo

Most of the player pool buys in for $500.
The play is sooo retarded relative to the rake though...

You played it right. As you know, there's a manic obsession with jackpots in California casinos. (I think it's a function of all the losing players there are. If you habitually lose money playing poker, a big jackpot is just about your only hope to win it all back.) So you aren't going to be a popular individual betting a jackpot hand for maximum expected value.
But the way I look at it is that jackpots will come when they come. The reality is that in MOST situations where both cards play and one player has Aces full of 10's or better and the other player has 4 of a kind or better, both players are going to end up all in in a No Limit game or there's going to be a showdown in a Limit game. So you don't have to "engineer" jackpot scenarios. If one materializes, you'll get your chips in, the other guy will get his chips in, and you'll both be happy when you show down the hand.
And jackpot scenarios are so rare that they aren't worth worrying about. Here's an example. I was at a 9/18 limit table where the following hand occurred, which is really "close" to being a jackpot but at the same time shows you so rare it is to hit one:
Player 1 had AA. Player 2 had JJ. Flop is JJ4.
Now, at this point, the most difficult step in getting to the jackpot-- the quads-- has been accomplished. But even with the most difficult step out of the way, the odds of hitting a jackpot are about 8 percent. In other words, if you saw this specific scenario (quads hit while another player has pocket aces) THIRTEEN times, you would only get one jackpot. And how often do you see this scenario? You could go to a casino every day for months and never see it again.
So I say that even if it makes you unpopular at the table, ignore the jackpot fetishists and just play your cards for maximum value. As I said, in most cases, if there is a real jackpot scenario everyone will get their chips in anyway so there really isn't anything to worry about.
Also, if these guys really care about jackpots, why aren't they playing limit? We have more hands call pre-flop, play more hands an hour, and show down more hands in limit, which means that you have a better chance of a jackpot at a limit game than a no limit one. If that's what one really cares about in poker, one shouldn't be at a no limit table.

At Edgewater when it is folded to the blinds - the two players ask one another if they have a bad beat hand. If they both do then they make it $10 preflop and check it to the river. $20 pot is the minimum requirement.

So I'm guessing he had something like pocket tens or jacks and was hoping a third ace would fall?
