I guess it was the first and the last. Never played anything lower than 25 buy in I can remember and I decided to play 5$ buy in NL home game with 11 people because this dude was bitchin at me to come not realizing I was a pro. I shit you not these 11 fuckers fought for their money more than just about anyone I have ever seen. We started at 9:30 and I didnt get knocked out third till 2:41 for just my 5 bucks back, who knows how long it went after that. Man was that a waste of time. 100 buy in NL satellites are 10x easier than this shit was. They are all poor bastards that are crazy about poker. Blinds were raisin ever 30 minutes just not enough I guess. Well im never playing less than 20 buy in. I kept wanting to just dump my chips but I just couldnt do it and everytime anyone raised it seemed like everyone would fold. Its funny the chip leader when I left by like 8x probably was down to 40 chips out of like 800 or something after the first couple hands and probably came back to win it.

Sometimes "freindly" games are the most hotly contested. Friendship only goes so far when money is involved.

i play in a bi-monthly home game as well...as many as i can get to...casino tourneys with buy-ins from 25-100 and the occasional 1/2 or 3/6 ring game. as far as i am concerned, some of the most fun i have is in my home game with the coworkers every other friday.
we only have a ten dollar buy in, but it's fun to play with people that you play with all the time. it's a different game than the one i play in the casino, and it's sometimes more heated. i mean, if i beat a guy out of a pot at the casino, he might get pissed or say nice hand, and that's the end of it. a well played hand in our home game gets talked about for days, weeks, and in some cases, months. it's not so much the money, that's just there to keep it interesting and honest. it's more about the pride and who gets to have bragging rights at work for the next two weeks.
maybe it's the homemade table, or the smack talking that goes on the next monday, but for my money, they're some of the best games i've ever played...and i don't get the shakes nearly as bad when i raise preflop with wired aces.

sounds like your blind structure is not aggressive enough if you want it wrap up earlier.

Nope not even close. I wasnt in control. Normally I like slow blinds and they were like they double every 30 minutes or 20 or something but by double they were going 5 10 - 10 20 - 15 30 - 20 40 - 25 50 - 30 60 - and shit like that it was actually crackin me up they were doing the shit like that but I didnt mind until i started getting hungry and no one had food.
