The problem with 2/4 live limit is that the rake makes it very difficult to win (or win significant amounts) long term.
Basically, a beginning live player needs to balance between playing at a high enough limit that the game is beatable and not playing above his or her bankroll and skill level. I tend to recommend that you start at 4/8 and have at least 300bb ($1,200) available. If you can't afford that, it's probably better to start out online where you can play for much lower limits.

What LawDude said.
Game is not crap, but it's raked to death. Heck, you can't beat most live 3/6 games for anything worthwhile.
~8/16 is about the smallest limit game I would bother with.
$1/$2 NLHE with a Vegas rake structure is your best bet for entry level live poker.

Well, Melinda, start reading the various articles here on poker strategy, and start posting hands that confuse you.
And play either 4/8 limit or 1/2 no limit with a decent buy-in in your quest to get better.
