Hi
I am playing a home game in which we play holdem and omaha
There are no SB/BB and the betting limits are $1 for all rounds other then the river, $5 at the river only. There is no limit to the number of raises.
The usual behavior of this games is that there are 1-2 raises pre-flop, but almost everybody stay for the flop.
After the flop usually people with decent hand stay, but a lot of times people stay even with nothing hoping to catch a card on the turn or river, since the betting limits make it pretty cheap to wait till the river.
I would like to know how do the gurus suggest to play at this kind of limits

Play it like you would any limit game. Starting hands are still very important even if it only costs you a buck or two to see a flop. Play big draws like Axs. In Omaha play the big double suited hands. Don't come in from early position unless you have a solid starting hand. In late position with a lot of limpers open it up and play suited connectors and other draws if you can get a cheap flop with a lot of limpers.
The $5 river can be tricky and you have to know what you are up against. If it is still multiway action on the river don't be the over caller and if you have the nuts make them pay through the nose.
Pay close attention to how many bets go into the pot so you know whether you are getting the right price to stick around for another card.
Don't drink too much. I play some home games where the play gets really stupid after a couple of hours thanks to rum and beer. You can make a lot of money when that happens.

Funny.....I swear I think I just read a similar post at another forum.
I'll say here like I said there. It sounds like a cheap bunch of friends. You can basically wait and only play the best hands with no reagrds to being blinded out. *Start Sarcasm* What Fun!!
Find yourself a better game to play in. A game were the actual rules are played casino style. This way when you do play at a casino you won't get used to any bad habits that might develop at this game.

this sounds like a potentially profitable games.
do everything that steve said. you may have to camp a bit for good hands, but they should pay-off.
if you're in a multiway pot on the river and draws can be completed by the board, AND people come out betting/raising, treat it like omaha and expect someone to showdown the nut (or near) hand.
if draws don't come through on the river and you have TPTK or two pair, push hard.
watch everyone and try to pick up on "disappointment with the river card" tells (since the format is set up for chasing) - these would be potential bluffing spots.

I’m surprised that they don't play spread limit $1-$5, it sounds as if I would play it like a limit game the $5 on the end makes no since really... I personally love the game of no limit but I hate it at the same time, I much rather play it then that betting structure, even spread limit would be bettor, maybe suggest a spread limit for all beating round or use a over button...
