What a silly admin I am. I wasn't sure whether to post this in Tools of Poker or Home Games. It's about software... but for home games.

Does anyone know of a good, FREE home tournament manager?

I mean an app that you use to configure level times, starting chip counts, buy-in amounts, number of players, etc., that will automatically figure out the best blind increments, number and amount of payouts, estimated duration, and includes a timer that can be paused and restarted?

I can do a search to download and try such apps, but was wondering if anyone has tried one that you really like.

hehe beat me to it.

You could make a spreadsheet in excel to calculate all of this pretty easily.

Haha. Jes_Gru may be able to help you out. I played in his home tournament a while ago and he had some nifty software like that.

Whether it was free or not, I have no idea.

I know there are a few timers, even poker timers online. But if you want something that you can use to calculate chip value, keep track of blinds, and time of blinds increase and all that and more. You are gong to have to break down and buy something.

Go to homepokertourney.com They have a lot of links to those types of programs, free and not.
I don't know what they have to say
It makes no difference anyway.
Whatever it is...
I'm against it.

I've seen some Java based timers and stuff online. But nothing as sophisticated as what you are talking about. I've been thinking about writing one and making it open source. Maybe post it on SourceForge or FreshMeat or something.... we should talk in a little more detail about what you would want it to do. Like a list of features it should have. This is open to any of ya'all. Submit your feature requests now 8-)

Tournament Director is what I used in my tournament and it works really well. It is donation-ware.

You can enter the chip values with the colors so they will display on the screen along with the timer.
You can setup the levels: sb, bb, ante, duration and break duration.
You can setup rebuy/addon if you wish, and then track those people that rebuy/addon.

It has a lot of features that I did not use, or didn't know how to use.

One thing that took me a while to figure out was how to end a break before the timer expired. Tried reseting the timer and other things...finally found that is was cntl-n.
