i was at a home game friday evening at a friend's house who hosts a game every friday.
i went out on the first floor patio for a smoke. a guy walks towards me and pulls a hand gun out. he tells me not to move and stay cool. two more guys walk towards me, one with a sawed off and one with a semi-auto. they ask me how many people are inside. i tell them around 10. they tell me to walk in, tell everyone to be cool, and if everyone cooperates no will will get hurt.
i walk in the door and do just that.
the guy with the hand gun walks immediately over to the host and puts the gun to the back of his head. he tells him to get him all the money or he will put a bullet in the back of his head. the host tells him to be cool and take whatever they want, and pleads with them to not mess with his two kids asleep in the bedroom. they tell him that if he gives them the money he will have nothing to worry about.
while he goes to a backroom to get the buy-in money, the guy with the semi proceeds to go around the table and have everyone empty their pockets and had a few people give up some jewelry and other items. somehow i was a lucky one who they took nothing from (the guy with the sawed off thought he saw me reaching for something and had me move where he could see me better so i think the guy going around the table must have thought the other guy hit me up already.) the guys came out of the back room and they proceeded to leave with everything.
from the way they knew who to approach and the layout of the place, they defintely had knowledge of the game from some source. just a warning to anyone who hosts a game to be careful with their security and who they let know they are having a game.

Man, that's messed up. Was it an open game where anyone could play?

Jesus, that's scary as shit. I'm tempted to move this to the wrong forum so people see it.

You mean the revolver, sir?
Precisely.

This obviously wasn't one of Pooky's games.

Yes, I heard about a game recently that was robbed and upwards of 10 G's was stolen plus a Rolex watch. The perpetrators were masked and had guns. So, when you play for high stakes, you run into these types of risks.

I thought about just this when I was driving to a poker game a friend of mine had advertised as a facebook party. Not that college kids carry around a lot of cash on them, but still.

wasn't that big of a game so beware, it can happen to any game.
we were playing $1/$2 NL. min $60/ max $300. Average buy-in was about $200. combine what they took off the table with some people rolling with heavy payday pockets and they walked away with $4000-$5000.
apparantly a number of games have been hit in the region recently. one particular game has even been hit more than one time. guess i will limit my play to the casino for awhile.

That makes me scared since I'm originally from the Baltimore area, but I live in DE around UD and play at a couple campus games and host one of my own at my apartment.

great, i'm getting stationed in Baltimore in a few months... I've heard the crime isn't so bad but hearing this kind of crap makes me want to buy a gun before I get there.
I think i will buy a gun now that you mention it. Being in the military, I can defend myself very easily without worry.

Damn, I occasionally play with some guys in (essentially) a $25 SNG in the Chicago region. Considering that at least 75% of the guys there are either air marshalls, professional boxers/ MMA, or police I guess I should feel safe, but if something were to happen I'd be hiding under the poker table the whole time.
