I need a good alternative food selection that is cheap for my home game.
As of right now on thursdays for 10-15 people I do 5 lbs of taco meat with the fixins. every other thursday my buddy does meatball and pork sandwiches and tomatoe pies... Both alternatives with a 30 pack of miller light and a case of Yeungling Lager(Philly Beer) cost between 90-115ish dollars. Does anyone have cheap easy to prepare alternatives???

we do two options:
Since hosting should not be a burden, we do "bring $5 and we'll order pizza or chinese".... Seems to work well with groups 10 or fewer.
We've also tried a "pot luck" (get it?) event, but most guys can't cook and it ended up being a dessert-fest.
What about grilling? You can buy some ground beef and throw in on the grill...takes a little while but everybody likes burgers...

Wow, Blackstar, you feed people on a weekly basis (in addition to hosting the poker games)?
You're quite a host. Where do you live?

I live right outside of philly. I guess I didn't mention that I deal and rake that night also. I take a buck per 10 up to 5 bucks. I do it one week and my buddy does it the next. All the cooking and cutting takes about 2 hours so it's not that bad. People that come don't mind the rake because it gets me off the table for a night and that's good for them. and I'm going to do the grilling option now that it's getting nice out...

I drink them myself. Not too many though on playing nights.

The trick here is to make your opponents believe that you have had too many.

Well it's fun because even drunk, I can read people really well. Some of the people I play with I can read almost to the point that their cards are face up... It's laughable.

Nice... Don't go getting any Ideas Xianti!!! I Ain't cooking every week. My games consist of chips/dip, Cookies, and maybe an occational Pizza. I guess I'll feel more generous if people stop taking my money.

What are you talking about? Things have turned around for you in the past few weeks.
Besides, we got pizza on the menu tonight, thanks to Andy!
