24 people are registered for this tournament and we all start with 2000 chips. Is it just me or do those blinds seem to increase kind of fast. In a online tournament that would a little long but considering how many fewer hands you see in a home game I just thought it goes up a little fast. Thoughts?

PS. My poker winnings paid for all my skydiving all the way to my A license. I have made 46 jumps in the last 6 weeks. Anyway thats where I have been if you are wondering. Thanks FTR for making it all possible. Should start playing a lot of poker again once school starts and I cant stay at a dropzone all weekend.

Nope no stills but I have 3 of my beginning jumps on dvd and I can rip segments off the disk and post em on here tonight when I get home. They aren't terribly exciting since I just hang on the wing and let go. I just kind of drift out of view because this was before you start jumping out with other people. I have like 4 others on peoples video cameras where we screw around in freefall but I havent got them on dvds yet.
My funnest jumps so far have been rodeo jumps where I jump out hanging onto another persons container and ride him like a horse in a sky. I also had one jump where this mad russian with like 1000s of jumps took me head down by holding onto me in freefall and flying the heading for me. We were going 225mph which is 100 mph faster than normal formation skydivng. Those are kind of dangerous because if you have a premature deployment it will snap your back and your parachute will explode. Its all fun though. You guys should try it it gives you quite a rush.

Wow that sounds really cool, i did a tandem skydive when i was in the Czech republic and it blew my mind, i'd like to do another one but they're kind of expensive when you do them on a one off basis. Everyone should definitely try it, there's no feeling like it, well not one that doesn't invlolve pain/death soon after.

Oh and i thought that blind structure looked pretty reasonable personally, they're the same as at VCpoker where you also get 2000 chips and the blinds are 8 mins, 1/2 an hour should be pretty much equivalent to 8 mins online i should think.

I guess those crazy last 2 levels are just to close the tourny down before everyone falls asleep/gets bored/has to leave because of work the next day, but until the last 2 they look fine.

Blinds are a little high. We play with blinds up every half hour on roughly the same schedule but we start with 5000 in chips. Usually 14-20 players. The game usually lasts about 6 hours tops 5pm to 11 or midnight.

The blinds listed are only slightly higher than the home game I run. The last 2 jumps will be pretty interesting but not out of line. It does however seem that the blinds do advance a little quickly at first. One thing that works well for our group is to only double the blinds after hour 1 and hour 2. After that, we start upping them every 1/2 hour to keep things moving. This allows everyone to get their heads on straight before getting eaten up by the blinds.
My question is would anyone change their strategy with quickly advancing blind structures?

Insane people are always sure that they are fine. It is only the sane people who are willing to admit that they are crazy.

I use the same exact blind structure and starting chip count. With the exception of the 2500/5000 blind.

Well their were 27 people that entered the tournament and it was an addon rebuy and I took 1st place. With that blind structure it still ended up taking like 7 hours. What cracks me up is they only pay 4 places and buy in is 20 dollars and this is what the pay was
1st 380
2nd 230
3rd 150
4th 20
The funny thing about this is all the money spots were won by people who never added on or rebought. They said thats what happpened at the last one too. Do you guys find this happening at your tournaments?
After the 1st 2 hours I had only won a single pot buying it with AJ because I got so many rags in a row it was unbelievable. Then I doubled up about 3 times in row and then got knocked low again but stayed alive and came back to win it. Patience was the key. So many cards I wanted to play because I was getting so low & was afraid I would never see anything good. It turned around fast. In the tournament that was 2 months before this one I got knocked out 5th when a dude bet into me and I had TT so I go all in - he calls and turns over 99 and hit a 9 on the flop.
Oh and the girl that won 2nd in the last one and 3rd in this one actually used a cheat sheet to tell her what beats what and actually had better than what she said she had when she was like "I got 2 pair" and she had a full house. She messed up on what she thought she had like 4 times. She said it was only the 2nd time she played and the tournament she got 2nd in was the first time playing poker. Isnt that crazy?
Well that was the most I have ever won in a tournament so I am quite pleased.
