I've been playing a home game at school recently with mixed results. It's a $20 buy-in NL game w/ 0.25/0.50 blinds. I find it a little annoying that the buy-in is only 40x the bb. Anyway, given that and the fact that I have an extremely tight table image there on account of the fact that the first time I played there I folded the first 32 hands in a row pf and then doubled up with pocket aces, what suggestions would you make with respect to this game?

Know your opponents...

Do they actually realize that you only play good cards? Most importantly (and seems amazing) do they actually realize you only play good cards and still call your raises w/ ?-able hands?

If you feel they do have a read on you.. and are not playing with you because of it, then you probably need to change your image. An easy way to do this is to enter a pot w/ some passive players (regardless of holding).. get a showdown. This can also be accomplished by how you act while playing... make sure you're having fun. Have a few beers (prolly not lit up), but enough to put others at ease.

Don't ever coach the table, unless it's BS bad-advice intended to make yourself look like you don't know squat.
So you click their picture and then you get their money?

I play with my closer friends only lately. I gave up coaching cause now that I play with them, they are now enemies . A lot of players that play with me are exploitable cause they know I'm a higher-stakes player and successfully beating the game. I use this to my advantage and play uber-lagg in our games sometimes just to exploit my own image. I even showed a hand where I raised 45o pf utg+1 and defended my blind with J6o in the BB to see what they do... I still get mad respect at my games.

I suspect you're hemmoraging value in your overall game. Poker is about finding your opponents range, and playing just above it. It's not about only playing a high range, because it's likely above your opponents.

If you can make money playing the way you do, then keep at it. I just think it's likely your opponents notice how tight you're being, and it has the effect of making your opponents play better against you in a particular hand. Your implied odds dry up like an elderly cooch.

You don't want to stand out. Blend into the table texture. The money is won postflop. It doesn't hurt to see more flops, if you know what to do after it.

When figuring out pot odds, remember to consider loose calls behind you, which help out your odds.
